RED BULLS WAIVE KHANO SMITH

The club announced today that it has waived midfielder Khano Smith.

Smith, 28, has played in eight games this season for New York, starting in six. He was signed by the Red Bulls during the off-season on February 12 from Seattle Sounders FC in exchange for allocation money.  The Bermudian made his Red Bulls debut on March 28 vs. New England at Giants Stadium, and provided the cross that caused a Revolution own goal in the 1-1 draw.

Ha! Did we drop him off in Bermuda on our way to Trinidad. Good riddance, honestly. When you have good players playing bad, there’s no reason to have bad players not playing.

This still doesn’t answer the age-old question: WHY IN THE NAME OF ALL THINGS HOLY DID THEY ACQUIRE HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE? I AM JUST SOME SCHLUB JOE SCHMO SEASON TICKET HOLDER AND YET I PREDICTED THIS THE DAY THEY GOT HIM, HOLY CRAP.

About time! What an unfortunate mistake that signing was.

well thank goodness for that, i had no love for Khano from the jump and he just proved his worth this season, terrible! looking forward to the RBNY redesign haha

Oh Thank God it is xmas in July!

  8. Alle Says:

Horrible signing, he was all speed and nothing else – like ESPN said at the beginning, RBNY looked like they were on their way to creating a track team rather than an actual squad.

he wasn’t even that fast, at least he didn’t prove it on the field. I saw him get out paced many times.

The sad thing is many fans including myself saw that he was a very limited player, actually one of the worst at his position in the league, he had a few moments with NE, based on his athleticism, but as a soccer player he was well below average. Why the Red Bulls would think they could make him a good player when all those years he hadnt improved was unbelievable.

    • Pico Says:

Unfortunately many people get blinded by the prospect and they believe (Osorio and the FO in this case) that they can fulfill that promise and get out the most of them. Happens all the time in sports and not just football.

The really sad part about it is that someone else will take a shot at Smith regardless of his history and ineptitude.

      Cheers

Why didn’t krupnik or kandji make the trip, are they hurt?

    ————-Angel———–Zimmerman———
    Obster————-Celadas—————Richards
    ———————-Stammler———————
    Pacheco———Goldy—–Petke———-Hall
    ————————Cepero———————-

I’m disappointed kandji didn’t make the trip, because We need someone to play with angel but maybe it will end up working out well for zimmerman if he plays forward. Another problem with kandji not making the trip is that richards has a better chance of playing and hall won’t be able to play right mid. All that aside, and maybe it’s just the excitement over having a healthy lineup talking, or maybe it’s the excitement over being excited about this team for once, but with a lineup like that i think we will play well.

and W connection = biggest team in trinidad and tobago, one of the biggest clubs in the carribean.
