The New York Red Bulls rolled to a 5-0 victory over Rutgers University Tuesday morning after two-goal performances from rookies Irving Garcia and Conor Chinn. The Red Bulls tested the Rutgers defense several times before punishing two defensive errors within a minute of each other. In the 25th minute, Garcia collected a misplayed clearance and slotted it home from close range. Shortly after, Chinn found himself in the same situation and finished a loose ball inside Rutgers’ 18-yard box.
The Red Bulls made only one substitution during the match, replacing Chris Albright with Jeremy Hall at half. It was Albright’s first match action since a season-ending injury in 2009. The match opened up in the second half with the Red Bulls moving the ball through the midfield more consistency. In the 54th minute, Hall played an early ball into the box towards Chinn, who found himself well-marked, but managed to turn the ball into the back of the net.
A Rutgers handball just outside of the 18-yard box in the 69th minute provided a dangerous offensive opportunity for the Red Bulls. Juan Agudelo made the most of the chance, curling the free kick past the goalkeeper at the far post.
The Red Bulls scored their final goal in the 74th minute when Garcia received a ball across the six-yard box from Tony Tchani and dribbled the goalkeeper before slotting it into the net.

CR33 must have REALLY banged up that knee against Santos unfortunately if he’s still not playing
what about salou and his paperwork? id assume Belgium was better at getting us paperwork than El Salvador when it came to the 93 year process to obtain Pacheco last season

Great job bulls – both the players, and the coaches/management for continuing to get them weekly games.
They really HAVE to re-establish the reserve league for MLS. So we can have our younger/developing/reserve players continuing to get playing time at a high level.

also, the reserve games are just a blast to watch! sometimes the play is more creative, riskier, etc. it’s just great to see the youngsters getting experience (that includes you, John Wolyniec!) 🙂

Garcia, Agudelo, and Borman impressed. Tchani looked bad even though he had a nice assist to Garcia for the last goal. Was a fun game to watch. Chinn was solid out there also. Was good to see Albright getting some action, he should be our starting rightback soon

Oh and like Professor JCO said, Borman scored the setpiece, not Agudelo. It was a beautiful kick over the wall hit at the upper corner. Agudelo had a very nice header that was slightly off target, this kid will be a force in the future

Tchani maybe tall and strong but I don’t think he is very talented

I agree he needs to step it up I don’t think he will be getting significant mins this season
