ESC COMPETES IN SOCCER TOURNAMENT

ESCTourney

Recently, Red Bull New York’s largest supporters group, the Empire Supporters Club, competed in a supporters club charity tournament in New York City hosted by Downtown United Soccer Club and Liverpool Supporters Club NYC.   They helped raise over $5,000 for City Soccer Initiative which will fund a school with an all year round soccer program!

The Empire SC team was MLS’s entry and wore New York Red Bulls kits as they made a thrilling run into the semifinals where they lost to eventual winners, Liverpool Supporters Club NYC, in the semi finals.  There were also teams representing the fans of Aston Villa, Everton, Cardiff City, Real Madrid, Celtic, and the Downtown United Soccer Club.  Paul Jeffries, the director of City Soccer Initiative, was very pleased, saying; “it’s a compelling story that demonstrates the power of soccer to positively impact lives beyond the game.  Rival supporters united for a common cause, sharing their passion for the game to benefit children from disadvantaged backgrounds.”  Empire Supporters Club coach, Paul Andersen, has already vowed to take home the trophy next year.
