It was a lighter session this morning, as the players went through some small possession games before playing 11v11 on a skinny field in anticipation of tomorrow’s match against D.C. United – their first match against a MLS opponent in preseason.
We’ll be there live starting at 4:00 PM, when the two teams kick off. Fans can follow the action via our Twitter account (@newyorkredbulls) and we’ll have post-game reaction later on Red Bulls Reader.
A few notes:
– Honduran midfielder Maynor Suazo is no longer training with the team and left yesterday.
– Defender Carlos Mendes and forward John Wolyniec may see time tomorrow, a good step on their returns back to the pitch.
– Defender Andrew Boyens will stay with the team for the entire trip, returning to New York on Sunday, Feb. 28, before leaving on March 1 to join the New Zealand National Team for their March 3 friendly against Mexico at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.
– Defender Chris Albright did not join the team on this trip. He is still undergoing rehab with trainer, Jim Hashimoto. Albright had actually been working side-by-side with U.S. National Team members Charlie Davies and Oguchi Onyewu in their respective recoveries.
Finally, we caught up with assistant coach Richie Williams after training today:

does this mean Suazo is no longer in consideration to be signed, or did he do enough to impress?

Not a good sign in my opinion…there was probably a reason he didn’t have a club for 8 months.
