Red Bulls vs. Revolution: Matchday

New York battles New England tonight at Red Bull Arena, with both sides looking to get back on the winning track with three points.  The Red Bulls have posted four consecutive draws, while the Revolution have dropped three straight.  At halftime of tonight’s match, the club will honor former midfielder Seth Stammler.  Lineups and running commentary after the jump:

1′ Ballouchy feeds Rodgers on onrushing ball, but he puts it wide.  Nearly a stunning early goal from NY.

2′ Carlos Mendes has moved into fourth place in regular season games played for NY with the start tonight.  #133 for #44.

4′ The first corner of the match goes to the Revs.

7′ Henry finds Rodgers in the area, but its poked away for a corner.

8′ Rodgers gives it a go from distance, but its wide right.

12′ A dangerous cross sent in by Solli, but Reis intervenes.

17′ After Revs have ball roll along but not across goal line, NY gets break the other way, but Rodgers’ lead pass for Henry is too heavy.

18′ Free kick coming for NY in a good area.

20′ Revs sub: McCarthy for Dabo, who we believe has a thigh injury.  Not confirmed at this time.

25′ NY is posing continuous threats to the Revs goal, but haven’t found the final pass yet.

30′ The match has slowed down a bit after a hectic start.

33′ Revs earn a penalty after Keel pulls down Lekic in the area.  Yellow to Keel.

34′ SAVE SUTTON!  With Red Bull Arena literally rocking, Joseph’s PK is pushed aside by the Canadian!

37′ GOAL NY!  Henry slides a pass across the goalmouth and the Revs Cochrane puts it in his own net.  1-0 NY!

43′ Rodgers nearly doubles lead off poor control by Revs defender, but he puts it wide.

45′ 1 minutes of stoppage.

HALFTIME: NY leads 1-0 thanks to an own goal and a fantastic PK stop from Sutton.

46′ And we’re back.  No changes for either side.

50′ GOAL NY!! Henry does it all himself with some nifty footwork before beating Reis to the far post with the left foot.  2-0 NY!

53′ Keel earns the assist on the Henry goal, his first MLS assist.

54′ Goal Revs.  Boggs finds himself alone on the far post and he beats Sutton far post.  2-1 NY.

56′ Revs sub: Mansally for Phelan.

57′ Yellow to Ballouchy.

59′ Mansally nearly levels from distance, but Sutton pushes it wide for a corner.

60′ Off the corner, McCarthy gets a volley at the back post, but its wide.

61′  Domi centers to Lekic who has an open look but redirects it wide.  Close call there as Red Bulls are on their back foot now.

65′ NY sub: Hertzog for Rodgers

71′ NY picking up the intensity on offense the last few minutes.

72′ Solli’s backpass is intercepted by Mansally, but he slides it wide with an open look.

74′ Ballouchy puts one on frame that Reis pushes wide.  Hertzog gets to the rebound but puts it right to Reis.

77′ Henry slides one across the goal for Ballouchy, but he is on the wrong foot and puts it wide.

79′ A nice building sequence ends with da Luz with a shot with not much pace.

83′ NY sub: John Rooney replaces Austin da Luz.

84′ Ballouchy moves to the left and Rooney slides into the right mid spot.

85′ Revs final sub: Nyassi for Boggs.

87′ NE with what looked like the equalizer, but its whistled offsides.

90′ 3 minutes of stoppage

FULLTIME: NY kills off the final minutes to earn a hard fought, 2-1 win and earn the full three points.  2-1 Final
