Red Bulls vs. Earthquakes: Match Day

The Red Bulls take on the San Jose Earthquakes tonight at Red Bull Arena  RAIN OR SHINE (7:30 PM ET; MSG; WADO 1280 AM).  This marks the first meeting between the clubs since last year’s MLS Playoff match at Red Bull Arena.  New York is looking get back on the right foot and find the scoring touch that has eluded them thus far this season.  Lineups and running commentary after the jump:

1′ NY earns a corner as a Solli cross is headed out by Opara

2′ GOAL NY!!  Luke Rodgers heads a Dane Richards cross to give NY an early lead!

4′ Looks like starting Rodgers was a great idea for Coach Backe

7′ Miller gets the ball to Lindpere in traffic, but his shot carries over.

8′ The Rodgers goal has energized the NY attack as they are going forward in waves.

9′ Lindpere sends in a cross that Rodgers had a bead on, but its intercepted.

13′ Rodgers sends in a cross that is too far for Henry.

15′ GOAL NY!! Henry dispossess a Quakes defender and his cross is finished by Rodgers for a 2-0 lead!!

22′ One-way traffic looks so much better with a 2-0 lead.

24′ NY is dominating possession and working the ball up the field methodically, earning a corner as a result.

25′ The ball finds Henry alone at the top of the area, buy Busch saves the one-timed shot.

29′ Richards draws a foul setting up a NY free kick from 30 yards.

30′ Rafa curls the free kick just wide of target.

32′ DeRo earns a yellow for a foul on Opara after a few fouls both ways went uncalled by the ref.

37′ DeRo almost settles one in the area, but his touch eludes him.

39′ Rodgers and DeRo play a give and go, but Rodgers’ shot goes wide.

40′ Ream blocks a shot from Wondo in the area and its cleared.

HALFTIME: A dominant first 45 from New York, taking a 2-0 lead into the break.

46′ And we’re back…

47′ Lindpere’s shot off an Henry feed slides wide.

49′ Wondo gets some space in the area, but its blocked out for a corner that is cleared.

51′ Rodgers turns his man and carried the ball upfield into the area, but is sandwiched by two defenders before he can get a shot off.

52′ Rodgers sends Henry in alone, but as he eludes Busch his touch is a bit heavy and his shot goes side netting.

55′ Yellows to Rodgers and McDonald after McDonald throws Luke to the ground.

62′ SJ sub: Leitch for Stephenson

64′ SJ sub: Sealy for Dawkins

66′ Lindpere breaks free and seemingly is taken down by Hernandez in the box, but its waved on.

73′ Henry is down near the end line.  Let’s hope its not the achilles.

75′ Henry is up and walking off under his own power.

76′ Henry with a shot from the top of the area, that Busch pushes wide on full extension.

77′ SJ sub: Luzunaris for Corrales.

78′ Rodgers just misses his third as Busch smothers the chance.

82′ DeRo with a go, but Busch is there.

83′ Henry runs onto a Rodgers ball, but his shot is over the top.  Great effort by Henry.

85′ NY sub: Ballouchy for Lindpere.

86′ Bouna is finally tested, but he smothers the Wondo shot.

87′ GOAL NY!! Henry heads home a Rodgers cross for a 3-0 lead.

89′ Ballouchy with a shot through the smoke that Busch saves.

90′ NY sub: Agudelo for Rodgers

90+ NY Sub: Rooney for Richards

    happy with this win alotttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt bouna did had to only make 1 big save and rodgers boy he to me is the guy next to henry and henry as for him happyyyy as hell to shut up all those haters saying he was never going to score
