It was the first USMNT callups for Juan Agudelo and Tim Ream, but both players acquitted themselves well, as Ream earned the start and played a solid center back, and Agudelo came on as a sub just past the hour and scored the game-winner with a nifty one-two with Mikkel Diskerud. The 17 year-old, wearing #17, broke former Red Bull Jozy Altidore’s mark to become the youngest USMNT player to score a goal, ironically in the same competition that Altidore set the mark a few years ago.
