RED BULLS VS. RAPIDS: POST MATCH

The Red Bulls put the disappointment of last week’s performance behind them tonight with a solid and comprehensive 3-1 win over Colorado Rapids at Red Bull Arena.  New York dominated for long stretches of the match, particularly the first half, and received goals from Thierry Henry, Tim Ream (who opened his MLS account after some recent near misses), and an in-fine-form Dane Richards.  All four players were had missed the RSL match due to international duty started and played well for New York, though Rafa Marquez took a knock to his left ankle and had to be subbed out.  We caught up with head coach Hans Backe, goalscorers Henry, Ream, and Richards as well as captain Juan Pablo Angel to get their thoughts on the match.  Share YOUR thoughts in the comments section.

This games shows that if Backe has his first 11, we are unstaoppable.

  2. Dario Says:

or really close to it…at home.

I know we have a tough last 6 games, but if Colu. loses to LA tonight we will only be 4pts. back.

IDK if we can win the East, but who would have thought on opening day we would be 4 pts back(of first) with only 6 to go.

I’d argue that Backe’s best 11 would be unstoppable on the road as well….they dismantled TFC in Toronto with this same team. Shep’s comments sometimes are way off the mark but his comment about teams being afraid of the RB front line seems to be true. Saw it with SJ and again with the Rapids. When RBs attack with Henry, Angel, Linpere and Richards with Rafa coordinating in back, opposing defenses look like deer caught in headlights.

This has been a dream season! What a treat after last year. Let’s hope we keep dreaming into November!

  4. Harry Says:

We now seem to be getting our act together, Richards and Ream were amazing.

  5. Walter Says:

It is wonderful to be back to the winning ways, MLS cup here we come.

  6. LUIS C Says:

I still believe we need a creative midfielder.Rafa Marquez is a defender,
    even with his good passes.

  7. emilio Says:

    He is playing defensive midfielder.

  8. Ceez Says:

Man, what a difference a year makes.

  9. Slayer Says:

I still have my eyes on an outside shot at winning the east. That would be sweet!
