New York hosts Colorado today at Red Bulls Arena as the Red Bulls return home for their only home match in September.  Coming off a disappointing loss away to Real Salt Lake, New York has its internationals return for availability, as Rafa Marquez, Bouna Coundoul, Dane Richards, and Roy Miller all returned from their national sides in time for this match.  With a full compliment of players, the Red Bulls look to get back on the winning track in front of their home supporters.  Check back later for lineups and running commentary.

1′ And we’re off…

5′ Richards with a great individual run, eluding several defenders, but no shot materializes.

6′ Marquez with a through ball to Angel that Pickens has to leave the area to clear.

7′ Cummings with a dangerous run down the left side, but his centering pass goes begging.

7′ First corner is earned by NY.

8′ Cummings redirects one on frame, but Coundoul smothers it.

10′ Wallace draws a yellow for a foul on Richards at the top of the area.

11′ Marquez puts the free kick off the wall and out for a corner.

12′ A flurry of activity in front of the Rapids net ends with a goal kick after a few shots are blocked by defenders.

13′ Angel nods a Miller cross on frame that Pickens has to punch out for a corner.

15′ Marquez plays a long ball to Henry, but his shot from a tough angle goes just wide.

16′ Colorado relying on counters only for offense as NY is keeping high pressure and creating plenty of chances.

17′ GOAL NY!!!! Henry takes a nice Lindpere backheel and puts it past Pickens for a 1-0 lead.

25′ Henry with another chance, but he can’t get enough pace on the shot and Pickens gets it.

27′ Yellow to Smith for a foul on Marquez.

30′ Yellow to Albright.

32′ GOAL NY!!! Marquez sends the restart to the far post.  Tchani volleys it back across the goal mouth, and Ream is there to finish for his first MLS goal!! 2-0 New York.

38′ Rapids starting to pressure more, but New York defense is playing compact and collectively.

39′ Ballouchy skies one over from distance.

44′ Smith with a volley on frame, but its right at Coundoul, who makes the save.

45′ 1 minute of stoppage.

45+’ Larentowicz puts one over from the top of the area.

HALFTIME: 2-0 New York at the half behind goals from Henry and Ream.

HALFTIME: Looks like no changes for  either side.

46′ And we’re back…

47′ Mastroeni breaks free and his shot is deflected by Coundoul.  Ballouchy is there for the rebound but puts it off the post.

52′ Goal Colorado.  Cummings with a long solo run before blasting one that hits underneath the post and goes in.  2-1 NY.

56′ Marquez with a nice recovery after a giveaway to break up a play.

57′ Smith puts one wide from the left side.

58′ GOAL NY!!  Richards finds the ball at his feet in the area and puts it past Pickens for a 3-1 lead!

65′ Ream muscles Cummings off the ball in the area.  No foul called.  Gary Smith is not pleased.

66′ Colorado sub #1: Thompson for Smith.

70′ Yellow to Thompson after a foul on Marquez, who is down.

71′ Looks like Marquez will be subbed off.

72′ Colorado sub#2: Lopez for Mastroeni and NY sub #1: Stammler for Marquez.

73′ Tchani frees Henry, but his centering pass is broken up.  Baudet is down for the Rapids.

74′ Colorado sub #3: Palguta for Baudet.

79′ Marquez left with a left ankle injury.

83′ Henry almost adds to his total, but Pickens breaks it up.

85′ Cummings gets the ball to Ballouchy, but Coudoul makes the save diving to his left.

88′ NY sub #2: Kandji for Angel.

90′ 4 minutes of stoppage.

90+’ Richards sends one in to Lindpere, but he puts it wide.

FULLTIME: 3-1 win for New York over Colorado to move to 12-8-4 and 40 points!

    Dane Richards is some player, he has been terrific the last 10 games or so, good thing Backe stuck to his guns and played one of the teams best players DANE RICHARDS!!

      Of course not Emilio only a few ” big picture” thinkers could see Dane’s value and potential. What an asset to this team he plays a great role and has only gotten better with the additions But most of all even though some don’t like his decisions having watched him his effort and loyalty should be unquestioned. Great job Red Bulls keep up the great play Dane maybe some day the nay Sayers will have the integrity to admit their shortsightedness
