Former New York forward and fan favorite John Wolyniec announced his retirement from professional soccer today. In a career that spanned 12 years, including seven-plus seasons with the New York franchise, Wolyniec, the only player in the Red Bulls’ history to have scored a goal in the MLS Cup Final, finishes his career fifth in club history in goals scored in all competitions with 36. The Red Bulls plan to honor Wolyniec, who has accepted a position with the Red Bull Academy, at their match at Red Bull Arena on Oct. 2 against the Kansas City Wizards at 7:30 PM ET.  READ FULL ANNOUNCEMENT HERE

    Nooooooo! Love Woly, man! Love the heart and spirit and donkey-like workrate he brought to the team and the occasional flashes of superb skills like that absolutely brilliant goal against Houston…

    WOLY! I hope they’re selling Woly jerseys at the farewell. Every time I’ve been to the stadium, I’ve tried to find one to no avail. Thanks, Woly!

      Grab one of the blank jerseys and have them customize it for you. Do it before the game and I’m sure it will be done by game’s end.

      Most players won’t have a jersey pre-made to buy because they don’t know whatdemand would be like and it could easily be a waste. With the blanks it costs about the same for you and means less wasted jerseys.
