The Red Bulls take on San Jose today at Red Bull Arena as New York looks to keep pace with Columbus in the Eastern Conference table.  The Red Bulls seek to return the favor to the Quakes, who handed New York its most lopsided defeat of the season, a 4-0 scoreline back in April.  Since then, the Red Bulls have added two DPs, while San Jose added one of their own recently in Geovanni, who will likely start the game on the bench for coach Frank Yallop.  New York Red Bulls:

2′ Lindpere with a hopeful through ball that goes too far for Henry.

3′ Lindpere with a dangerous cross that almost finds Richards on the far post, but he puts it wide.

5′ Alvarez gets space in the area, but Coundoul parries his shot away and is there to stop the rebound as well.

6′ Yellow to Burling for a foul on Lindpere.

7′ Marquez sends in a dangerous free kick but Busch comes off his line to snare it.

10′ Some very dangerous moments early on for NY, but no real chances yet.

11′ NY earns the first corner of the match.

12′ Marquez with some great moves that lead to a Henry blast that is cleared off the line by Ward.  Great stuff!

16′ Marquez is really showing his class so far tonight.

19′ Tchani sends Angel through, but he can only get it on the outside of his foot at a tough angle and Busch is there.

21′ Miller sends a chip to Angel, who finds Henry in the middle, but he pings it off the post!

22′ Henry sends Miller though, but his centering pass towards an onrushing Richards is gobbled up by Busch.

24′ Glen puts one well wide from distance.

25′ Glen finds himself with space on the left side, but he puts his shot wide.

26′ San Jose is playing deep, hoping to contain NY on offense and only really looking to counter.

28′ After a dominant start by NY, the game is settling in somewhat.

35′ Glen with another chance from Stephenson, but he puts it wide from in front of the net.

37′ San Jose starting to put together some offense.  Wondolowski sends one well over.

38′ Richards earns a yellow for simulation.  Though it looked more like he tripped and fell trying to get to a 50/50 ball with Busch.

41′ Marquez whips in a cross that is just out of Angel’s reach.

44′ Marquez almost connects on another golazo, but Busch makes the save on the swerving ball.

45′ 2 minutes of stoppage.

45+ GOAL NY!!  Richards collects a bounding ball and slices through the defense, dragging it around Busch and sliding it home.  1-0 NY!!

HALFTIME:  1-0 NY on a Dane Richards tally.

HALFTIME: No changes for either side.

46′ And we’re back…

50′ Miller whips in a cross that Henry redirects on net.  Busch makes the initial save, but Angel puts the rebound off the post on a sitter.

53′ Playing Advantage, Henry puts an amazing flick on frame that Busch has to push over.

54′ Off a corner, the ball comes back to Marquez on the far post, but his one-timed shot goes wide.

55′ SJ sub: Geovanni for Gjertsen.

56′ Yellow to Convey just outside the area.

60′ Alvarez turns on one outside the 18, but he puts it over.

62′ Glen gets a little space, but puts in wide.

63′ SJ sub #2: Jasseh for Wondolowski

64′ GOAL NY!! Henry settles a Richards cross and buries it past Busch.  2-0 NY!!  First MLS goal for Henry!

66′ Glen can’t get his redirect on frame and it goes over.

71′ Tonight’s attendance: 21,859

72′ NY sub: Kandji for Angel.  Mendes takes the armband

75′ Lindpere gets a yellow.  SJ free kick just outside the area.

77′ Geovanni’s free kick is deflected out.

78′ SJ sub #3: Johnson for Cronin

78′ Ream breaks up a good scoring chance.

81′ Yellow to Tchani.

82′ Stammler getting ready to come on for Tchani.

83′ Kandji gives it a go, but its wide.

84′ NY sub #2: Stammler for Tchani.

88′ NY sub #3: Ibrahim for Henry.

90+ 4  minutes of stoppage.

FULLTIME: 2-0 win for NY over San Jose.  Dominant win for the Red Bulls as they gain two points on Columbus with the win.

    the (deleted) is up with the refs in this league?richards didnt dive he fell, he event tried to continue running after the ball after but fell again

    An overall terrific performance by the red bulls. Everywhere, defense, midfield and up top we were solid and played some great football. Hopefully we can keep this run of form going and going.

    Poor refereeing in the MLS is why American players are seen as being naive in the tackle in Europe.

    Great victory!! The team is looking great and I’m sorry to not have been in the stadium tonight, it would have been fun!

    I’m excited that the first team is gelling and really looking like a top squad in MLS, plus the depth is also impressive and it appears we’ll have a top squad for years to come.

    I’m hoping the silverware follows soon, it’s been too long.

    went to the game… good game… TIM REAM is the future for team usa they need not look any further this kid is for real… its not IF he get a chance for team USA its when… this kid gets it…. only a matter of time before he goes to europe….
