The Red Bulls take on Toronto FC tonight in the first MLS match at Red Bull Arena since July 10.  After over a month away from home for league matches, New York’s depth will be tested as four players (Marquez, Coundoul, Miller and Richards) are away on international duty.  Second place in the Eastern Conference is on the line in this potential playoff matchup, as the two sides would meet in the Eastern semifinals if the season was to end today.  The last time these clubs met was at the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic, a 4-0 New York win that saw Julian de Guzman was shown a straight red card after a horror tackle on Juan Pablo Angel, causing the Red Bulls captain to miss the remainder of the preseason.  Curious if there is any hard tackles as a result tonight.  New York Red Bulls:

Subs: Sharpe, Petke, da Luz, Ibrahim, Ubiparipovic, Robinson, Boyens

Toronto FC:

—————Barrett———-De Rosario—————–

Nane———-de Guzman————-Peterson———–LaBrocca

Subs: Conway, Hscanovics, Harden, Mista, White, Ibrahim, Gala

Yes, its the former Red Bull Jon Conway as the backup keeper for TFC tonight.

  1. jmp Says:

good lineup – considering the national team call-ups. though, kandji is going to play right, and stammler left – with joel and tony in the middle. stammler might play in the middle, pushing joel to the left, but I dont really think that is going to happen. Joel (at CM) is perhaps the best player so far this year – tim and our captain is at the same level of consistency.

if we are winning – are we going to see da luz tonight at some point – would love to see him play 10 minutes at least. coach backe knows best.

  2. karbaz Says:

Good god Sutton, you better not Ef up.

  3. chrisg Says:

I really dont like Kandji playing on the wings, he always seems to do better up front.

  4. starks in tampa Says:

  5. starks in tampa Says:

  7. starks in tampa Says:

anyone else have MLS Matchday Live, well it is horrible! I bought the season pass for 39.99 and the feed most of the time is awful, just now it froze really bad and I can not log back in to watch the game unless i sign up again for 39.99….unbelievable.

  8. chrisg Says:

to many free streams to pay for that nowadays. They would make more money just have advertisments and streaming for free.

  9. starks in tampa Says:

  14. karbaz Says:

Stammler you idiot, wtf are you thinking?

  15. chrisg Says:

Redbull really needs to focus on finishing as this is the 2nd game where we should have had 5 goals.

  16. david Says:

oh yea red bulls won watch out crew we takeing 1st place back

  17. karbaz Says:

It was a good win for us big time, again we have been lacking in the finishing department but once Marquez and Henry get 90min fit we should be good.

I still feel we need one more solid passing midfielder to team up with Lindpere. All in all, a good night for us, rest up boys we got LA on Sat and they haven’t been playing well since the world cup ended and we need to capitalize on that.

  18. Dario Says:

great win today, we created some seperation with Tor and the rest of the EC.

Now we have 2 more difficult games v. LA and then at Toronto (which they never lose at home.)

Good job tonight…to the whole team.
