Earlier this year former New York Red Bulls player Joe Vide was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease, a form of cancer, at the young age of 25. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy, and the New York Red Bulls community is rallying support and raising money for a member of our family.

Prior to the home game against Los Angeles this Saturday, the Empire Supporters Club is hosting a pre-game party to raise money for his treatment. All fans are welcome to join us at El Pastor, 570 Market St. just across the river in the Ironbound section of Newark from noon to 5pm for a concert and pre-party. There will be plenty of great food and drinks, a raffle for some great Red Bulls gear and even a dunk tank to douse your fellow fans. Admission is $ 12 for all fans and $ 10 for all New York Red Bulls supporters club members.

All of the proceeds from the event go to the Friends of Joe Vide charity. For more information regarding this charity, visit or visit for more information.

    Good job, ESC

  2. BC.Sec.130 Says:

Will be there Wed and Sat. Lets go Red Bulls!!

  3. Marc Silverstein Says:

Do they have an official 501C3 non-profit status from the IRS? Last I heard was that they were working on it.

  4. Marc Silverstein Says:

Thanks Jen: So do you know if a donation made to a 501C7 is considered as tax-deductible? My employer can only match funds from a 501C3, so that is not applicable here?

    • Jen Says:

I don’t believe donations to a 501c7 are tax deductible. If you’re looking to make a larger donation to Joe Vide I would recommend going directly through his charity. You may want to contact them first to find out what their tax status is.

  5. Marc Silverstein Says:

Thanks Jen I will check with them again. About 4-5 months ago they had not yet received their 501C3 letter, but they were working at it.
