Red Bull New York announced that four players have been called up by their respective national teams: defender Roy Miller, midfielders Rafa Marquez and Dane Richards and goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul. All four players will be unavailable for the team’s MLS regular season match against Toronto FC on Aug. 11.

Miller has been called in for Costa Rica’s friendly against Paraguay at Defensores del Chaco in Asunción, Paraguay. Miller, who has one assist in 15 appearances this season, has earned 14 international caps for his country.

Newcomer Marquez will join the Mexican National Team as they take on Spain on Aug. 11 in Mexico City, Mexico. Marquez has earned 94 caps, scoring 11 goals, his most recent coming in a 2010 World Cup match against South Africa

Richards has been called in for Jamaica’s friendly match against Trinidad and Tobago on August 11 in Macoya, Trinidad. Richards has 16 caps for the Jamaican national team. With New York this season, Richards has tallied one assist in 15 games.

Coundoul and Senegal will take on the Cape Verde Islands in Dakar, Senegal. Coundoul has played every minute for the Red Bulls in MLS play, earning a 1.24 goals against average and six shutouts. He has earned two caps for the Senegalese side.

sutton better play good as hell and who ever in the starting lineup against toronto cuz we have to win

  2. cb Says:

looks like Borman, Stammler, Ubi, and Sutton are starting with Kandji up top, as Henry has a groin strain. hmm, crucial game for the B-team to win in order to stay in second place in the East. And the Galaxy are coming this weekend …yikes!

  3. eltigreferoz Says:

Comes at a pretty bad time. I’m assuming then that we’ll not see Marquez play again for the team until the end of the month v San Jose, and that Sutton will be in between the posts for Saturday’s game v LA. Sigh…

  4. agnigrin Says:

I have a feeling Bouna and Marquez will start for us on Saturday. Dane and Miller may come in a s subs… and i ma pretty sure Henry will play vs TFC tomorrow!

  5. Dario Says:

Henry can play v. Toronto, but I doubt he will play the whole 90.

We must not lose that game. And we must win at least one of the next 2(v. Tor/Gal.)

I would be very happy with 4pts. Luckily were home.

  6. Matt Says:

Champions are measured by facing the best, and beating them. In MLS, the name of the game is roster depth. Regardless of who’s on the field on Wednesday and Saturday, if the Red Bulls want to be considered a championship-caliber team, they need to win. I’ll be cheering for them, either way, but the schedule is no excuse for a loss at home. Last year was the year of excuses – this year is the year for results. Go Red Bulls!
