RED BULLS TIE WITH DYNAMO, 2-2

It was a wild game at Robertson Stadium tonight, but the Red Bulls will be disappointed to have given up a 90th minute Brian Mullan goal, which resulted in a 2-2 tie with the Dynamo. In his MLS debut, Thierry Henry looked lively and despite not finding the back of the net, he recorded two assists that led to Juan Pablo Angel’s club-leading 12th multi-goal game as a Red Bull. Angel’s 11 goals is just one behind MLS leader Edson Buddle.

We caught up with Red Bulls head coach Hans Backe, as well as Angel and Henry, after the match:

goodness….if this is a “not fully fit” version of Henry, the rest of the MLS better watch out! This game could easily have been 5-2 Red Bulls if Heny finished his chances. Angel/Heny/Kandji is by far the most lethal set of forwards this league has ever seen!

i agree. people are not giving henry enough credit. yes he missed some chances but he assisted on both. once he gets in the grove he will score as well as assist like he did today. marquez will have a serious impact on the defense. i cant wait to see more

      • Dario Says:

Yes, there were missed chances…(a few of them)

but there were chances, sooner or later(much likely sooner)those chances for Henry will def. go in and the Red Bulls will head to soccer nirvana.

  2. Flintstone Says:

Up one man,Angel and Henry on the field. We should have won. Disappointing loss. When we get Marquez this week, No one will beat us.
Angel and Henry looked good together for the first time. They will only get better.Look out MLS.

  3. Starks in Tampa Says:

awful result for redbull this should have been 3 points…..being a man up second half, being up 2-1….awful defensive lapse….should have scored more then 2 goals, a point on the road isnt bad but this one got away.

  4. Walt E. Says:

Taking away some good and bad from this match. The good was the way Henry and Angel worked very well together, hooking up for two goals. This was the best the Red Bulls have looked offensively in months. The bad was giving up a goal late in the game when your up a man and a goal. Defensively, the Red Bulls need to tighten it up. Overall, a point is OK, but should have gained three points on Columbus with a win!

  5. redbulls4ever Says:

Henry is awesome, Angel and Henry certainly have good chemistry. We should have gained three points in this match. Houston Dynamo with having one man down should have not had that 90th minute goal.

  6. Cindy Says:

i was surprised Henry even went the full 90. i can’t wait til the whole team gets it together and are clicking!

  7. Jessee Says:

Good thing Columbus got destroyed by Chivas.

  8. Stu Says:

I think we looked good and the potential with JPA and Henry up front is exciting. Clearly Henry is not quite fit yet but the crispness of the passing between those two was great. We have to remember that every player, all over the world can miss chances and Henry is no different but when he’s back in the groove, we’re in for a hell of a ride. Very excited for the rest of the season and can’t wait for the next game.

  9. Dario Says:

I am psyched for the game v. Chicago. We have struggled their in recent years.
I would like to exercise those demons!!

    Red Bulls for Glory!

  10. Charlie N. Says:

ANYONE who thinks that was a good outcome is out of their minds. Houston missed a P/K, was down to 10 men early, and we had Angel and Henry. A 2-2 tie sucks, and sucks bad. Any way you slice it it sucks…

    • alex Says:

u cant expect them to score 3-4 goals every game. its just not gonna happen. the defense was at fault for not being able to hold back an offense with one man down.
