US OPEN CUP POSSIBLE MATCHUPS ANNOUNCED

With the First Round of the US Open Cup in the books and the Second Round matchups inked, we can now get a clearer look at who the Red Bulls will be matched up with in the Round of 16.  With the potential matchups with the Brooklyn Italians or NY Pancyprian Freedoms (of Chris Megaloudis fame) falling by the wayside, the two winners that will meet for the right to play New York are the Long Island Rough Riders (PDL) – who has former New York draftee Laurent Manuel on the roster, and the Harrisburg City Islanders (USL-2) – who have former Red Bull Danny Cepero as their keeper though he was not the starter against Brooklyn.  The two sides will meet on June 22 at 7:00 PM ET in Harrisburg.

As the for matchup in the Round of 16, should Long Island advance, New York will host the Rough Riders at Red Bull Arena.  If Harrisburg should advance, the Red Bulls will be on the road at Skyline Sports Complex in Harrisburg, Pa.  The time and date of the matches have yet to be finalized, though the match will likely be played on June 29 or 30.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE THIRD ROUND POSSIBLE MATCHUPS.

sucks, I wanted them to play the BK Italians so that I could make the game. Would have been fun to go out to BK and represent. Let’s hope Long Island advances so that we get our RBA game. I’m not trying to go out to Harrisburg, PA – nor do I know how to even get there via public transportation.
