Red Bull New York is proud to announce its support of  Kicking & Screening in partnership with CopaNYC, a film festival dedicated to bringing  together soccer fans and film aficionados to celebrate the beauty and passion of soccer as captured and expressed on film. The film festival kicks off on June 1st in New York City’s Tribeca Cinemas and wraps up on June 5th.

Founded in April 2009, K&S is the first film festival in the United States devoted solely to the sport of soccer. From inspiring films to insightful panel discussions, K&S provides a forum for filmmakers to screen and discuss their work with the fans who celebrate the “beautiful game” worldwide. “We are happy to support efforts such as Kicking & Screening Film Festival and CopaNYC which underscore NYC’s diversity and love for the world’s most beautiful game,” says Erik Stover, General Manager from New York Red Bulls.

Entering its 2nd year, K&S will feature, five films, and six shorts s from around the world, with almost half being U.S. premiers. Each night the films will be complemented by a panel discussion relevant to the films’ topics. Among the special guests for the week are Simon Kuper (author of Soccernomics), Ethan Zohn (Survivor winner, founder of Grassroot Soccer and cancer crusher) and Adrian Healey from ESPN.  This year, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Play31, a non-profit New York based organization that utilizes the unifying power of football to bring together people who have been torn apart by armed conflict. Play31’s vision is a world where all children are free to play, as stipulated in Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
