RED BULLS VS ARMY: EXHIBITION MATCH DAY

The Red Bulls will play an exhibition match today against the United States Military Academy at Clinton Field on the West Point campus.  With the club having opened Red Bull Arena to MLS play with a 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire on Saturday, today’s match will likely showcase the team’s depth.  The rain may dampen some enthusiasm, but RBR will be there to cover the match for our loyal fans.

Starters for New York 4-4-2: Greg Sutton, Luke Sassano, Carlos Mendes, Andrew Boyens, Seth Stammler, Austin da Luz, Tony Tchani, Irving Garcia, Damani Ralph*, Juan Agudelo, John Wolyniec.

Starters for Army: Michal Fiuk, Jeffrey Pickett, Michael Chere, Mitch Johnson, Josh Koeppe, Michael Leach, Carson McReynolds, Michael Kim, Kenneth Leslie, Tanner Robertson, Cameron Jarvis.

The rain has let up, but the clouds are still in the area and we expect intermittent showers throughout the match.

Despite the weather, there is still a good crowd here, estimated at over 500.  A good portion are decked out in Red Bulls colors.

  2. gigi Says:

FYI, since hans backe has taken over, if all these pre season games count for anything too, we have outscored our openents 25 to 4 in 11 outings, no oponent has scored more than 2 goals. Only two times where we shut out. pretty sexy stats so far

  3. gigi Says:

im not no math stud either but thats a 2.27 strike rate for us while our openents have a .36 strike rate against us. though this match is rather meaningless i still wishi could see it, but ima be stuck at work.

The most important thing about the pre-season was the winning attitude created. It allowed last years holdovers, to get used to winning and forget the misery’s of last year. A mediocre pre-season would have been devestating as a losing culture would have continued. We added a starting center back, a left back, and a midfield general, Backe and Soler have done a great job, and lets not forget that when they lose some games, cause thats inevitable, but we have something we didnt have last year, hope. Last year we expected a loss, this year we can go into a game knowing we have a chance to win.

does this look like a 3 -4-3? or do they have stammler at LB and sassano at RB in a 4-3-3?
