RED BULL ARENA TRAFFIC ALERT

By all accounts the grand opening of Red Bull Arena was a great success and we are optimistic that the best is yet to come. We are proud of our accomplishment and could not have done it without our loyal supporters, there is still work to be done to make your game day experience as good as possible.

Our primary focus going into the Chicago Fire match is improving traffic congestion. We were disappointed that the traffic management plan was not executed as well as it should have been. Local law enforcement and traffic management personnel have assured us that this will improve dramatically this weekend.

With that said, we are imploring you to consider mass transit. The PATH has received rave reviews from those fans that used it last week. Unfortunately, only about 3000 fans out of 25,000 took the PATH. We are expecting another sell out on Saturday and we really encourage you to consider this option. For those of you that live in an area that the PATH isn’t really an option, please visit www.njtransit.com. This site has a great trip planner which can help you find an efficient way into Newark Penn Station.

NEWARK TROLLEY
While we believe that the Newark Trolley is still a great idea, traffic congestion last weekend made some of the trips frustrating for our guests. For now, we suggest that fans arriving into Newark Penn Station use the PATH to Harrison until the Trolley service is more efficient.

ROUTE 21/MC CARTER HIGHWAY
Route 21 was heavily congested last week and we suggest that you use an alternative route. Access to Red Bull Arena via Route 280 operated efficiently going both westbound and eastbound. The Newark Police Department has committed additional traffic management help for this map, but we believe the safer bet is to avoid Route 21.

SECAUCUS JUNCTION
One alternative that you might consider is Secaucus Junction. This station is easily accessible for cars off of the New Jersey Turnpike. Parking here, then taking a train might be the best option for you. Please visit www.njtransit.com for more information.

There are several other options for you to consider so please plan your trip accordingly. We look forward to seeing you at tomorrow’s Inaugural MLS Match. Thank you for your continued support.
