After a day off, it was back to work for the players, as the team had a morning and an afternoon session today. The morning session mostly consisted of possession drills and a small-field 11v11 game. In the afternoon, the team did some ball work before doing more fitness – with some players doing touchline to touchline runs while others jogging at a steady heart rate around the facility. Assistant coach Richie Williams usually joins in on the workouts and could make a case to be the fittest coach in MLS! (RBR even saw some of the IMG Academy young kids working on their fitness, running up the large hill next to Fields 3 and 4).

Speaking of the coaching staff, one of the newcomers to the team is assistant coach Goran (pronounced YOUR-ehn) Aral. Aral, who joined the team in Florida, tells us that he has known head coach Hans Backe since they were 15 or 16 years old and the possibility of joining his long time friend was an attractive proposition. We spoke to Aral after training this morning about his thoughts on his new position and team so far:

The team has its final practice in Bradenton tomorrow morning before it buses to Orlando.
