Hello from Bradenton, FL and the IMG Academy, as your Red Bulls embark on their second preseason trip of 2010. The team traveled this morning from Newark and arrived in Bradenton in the afternoon, kicking off training at 5:00 PM.

The players mostly took part in possession and small field games, with head coach Hans Backe continuing to emphasize defensive shape in the back four.

Just a few notes:

– Jamaican midfielder Dane Richards (returned from international duty against Argentina) and rookie midfielder Tony Tchani (did not travel to Spain due to paperwork issues) are here in Bradenton. Costa Rican defender Roy Miller is also with the team for his first preseason trip.

– New assistant coach Goran Aral is with the team after arriving in the United States over the weekend and helped coach his first session with the team today. We’ll catch up with him later this week.

– Good to see Carlos Mendes, who has been recovering from hip surgery, fully take part as well as forward John Wolyniec (ankle surgery).

– D.C. United was training on the field next to us and watched the final part of our session.

We’re working on getting a final time for the Red Bulls-U.S. U-17 match on Wednesday. As previously mentioned on RBR, the Red Bulls are also facing D.C. United on Saturday at 4:00 PM. We’ll be covering the games live on RBR and our Twitter account (@newyorkredbulls) and we’ll also be Twittering during practice sessions on some observations. Stay tuned…
