RED BULLS READER ON THE ROAD – Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Day One – December 13, 2009

RBR hits the road again, this time on a philanthropic mission to the island of Hispanola in the Caribbean and home to two countries – the Dominican Republic and Haiti. On this five day trip, RBR will be traveling with Red Bulls Seth Stammler and Jeremy Hall.

The first stop is Santo Domingo where we’ll spend Monday doing two soccer clinics – one in the morning at the Cristo Rey football academy and then in the afternoon, we’ll participate in a Red Bulls program called “Under my Wings” at the Football School Bauger on Unphu Universuty Campus.

Then on Tuesday, RBR will travel to Haiti. The trip is a return for Stammler, who in 2006 traveled to Haiti with former teammates Jozy Altidore and Jerrod Laventure, both of Haitian decent. It was Stammler, who after spending six days in Haiti visiting schools and conducting clinics, thought there was more to be done. So, upon his return he founded Sporting Chance Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that has raised money to concentrate on two of the most important aspects of bettering life in Haiti …Education and clean potable water. RBR will travel with Stammler and Hall as they visit local schools and the students who have been endowed with academic scholarships through Stammler’s Sporting Chance Foundation. Then Thursday, RBR will visit the new water station that has been constructed through SCF’s works.

So check back throughout the week as we bring you updates from the trip!
