What a way to send out Giants Stadium, as the Red Bulls post a 5-0 win to put a serious crimp on Toronto FC’s postseason hopes and to end their 2009 MLS season on a high note.  Braces from Juan Pablo Angel and Macoumba Kandji help Albert Celades end his professional career with a flourish.  Following the match, there were presentations on the field for Angel becoming the franchise’s all-time leading scorer in all competitions, Petke for moving into the top 10 in MLS history for minutes played in career, and for Celades on his retirement.  RBR caught up with several players as well as Richie Williams to get their reaction following the big win.

Great way to end a diaappointing year. I had a blast, despite the monsoon. Thanks guys and here’s hoping for more of this next season!

    Dear Red Bulls,

Please hire Richie Williams full-time and don’t let him go to another team!

Thanks for this game, guys. Best I could have hoped for. You played (and coached) your hearts out, and it showed.

It might have been raining, but that was one of the best nights I’ve The Swamp. Great game (for us), great post-match celebrations ($2 Guiness in the “pub” was a nice touch) and for the first time I felt the opposition’s presence in the stands. Hats off to TFC’s supporters: we were singing to their shame all night, but they were good sports about it. Can’t wait to play them again next year.

  10. Dario Says:

This was a great way to end Giants Stadium (for Soccer.)

By far the most entertaining game of the season, basicially the last kick was a PK!

  11. Ceez Says:

Great match! If only more matches turned out this way for us this season. Can’ wait for next season!

On a side note, is it just me or did anybody else feel like Angel’s comments had a certain “farewell” feel to them?
