DiNardo Family Cup

The New York Red Bulls and The Soccer Learning Center will host the DiNardo Family Cup on Friday, September 18, prior to the Red Bulls MLS match with the New England Revolution.

UPDATE: Governor Jon Corzine, Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy, and Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer are expected be in attendance at the start of the tournament to conduct the coin toss, along with the four surviving officers before the tournament’s kickoff at 3:30 PM ET.

More than 100 players representing eight teams will play in a small-sided tournament on the Giants Stadium field to help bolster the PBA scholarship fund for Jersey City Police Detective Marc DiNardo’s three children, ages 4, 3, and 1. The charity tournament runs from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM, and will be followed by an Awards Ceremony and Tailgate in Lot 14 in the Giants Stadium Parking Lot from 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM. The Red Bulls and Revolution kick off at 7:30 PM.

In addition, the four other officers injured during the deadly shootout will be recognized during a special halftime presentation, and an auction and raffle featuring autographed memorabilia from the Red Bulls, other MLS teams and other New York and New Jersey professional sports teams will be conducted on the concourse.

The teams participating represent the Jersey City Police Department, the Jersey City Fire Department, the Hoboken Fire and Police Departments, the Kearny Fire and Police Departments, the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department, the Hudson County Department of Corrections, the Port Authority Police Department, and the New Jersey State Police.
