THURSDAY TRAINING REPORT

Today at training, we saw Juan Pablo Angel’s return to training with the full team.  He is still listed as questionable since he is recovering from his Grade 2 Concussion, but this is a very encouraging sign.  Jorge Rojas is also listed as questionable for this Saturday’s match with Chivas USA (NOTE: This match will begin at 7:00 PM, not 7:30 PM).

Mac Kandji was back on the field today as well, working on finishing drills.  He is still about a week away, but seeing him back and working out was a step in the right direction.  Speaking of steps in the right direction, Carlos Johnson has a shot at being selected for the 18 on Saturday.  The biggest question with him is his fitness level after missing so much time following foot surgery.

Two Red Bulls participated in International matches yesterday, Dane Richards with Jamaica and Alfredo Pacheco with El Salvador.  Since Dane’s match was at Giants Stadium, he was back with the team today and was a limited participant in training.  Pacheco played in Trinidad and is expected back at the end of the week.

You make it sound like a bad thing.

“(NOTE: This match will begin at 7:00 PM, not 7:30 PM).”
That would only matter if anyone was actually going to watch the game.

“Mac Kandji was back on the field today as well, working on finishing drills. He is still about a week away”
Is this kid made of glass? How many games has he missed this year exactly?

“Carlos Johnson has a shot at being selected for the 18 on Saturday. ”
    Great more red cards

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzz…

I just can’t get excited about anything that involves this team. If a thread is about anything other than letting go of osorio or agoos, signing a big name player, a new ownership taking over, or our team winning, i simply can’t bring myself to caring. You can have your clips about the stadium being built, or threads about no talent richards playing for a nationial team, or how we aren’t going to sign any academy players because i don’t think anyone gives a crap.

    • Mike from Linden Says:

Except you because you are the only one posting on this stupid site. You are the only one that cares. I agree with you but just stop writing comments because its not worth the energy. Your talking to deaf ears and blind eyes.

      • lou Says:

for someone who has it all figured out you sure are hypocrytical. You’re telling me not to respond to anything on this site, by responding to something on this site.
If you want people to stop posting on here, than don’t contribute to it by telling me not to post.
You say they don’t bother to read the posts, well than not posting has the same effect and so i think i’m going to still chose to post on here. If they didn’t bother to read any of these posts they wouldn’t allow my posts to go through when they say they are moderating them.

  2. tp Says:

Funny how people who can’t get excited about and had enough of the team still have to respond to every single post RBR makes. Refusing to stop posting on here is as bad as JCO refusing to resign.

  3. Pico Says:

I totally refuse to comment on these useless posts!

Darn! I did it again! Promise for the next one

    • lou Says:

yeah that’s exactly what mike is doing. Telling me not to post on here anymore than posting on here himself.

      • Mike from linden Says:

ye but you post on here constantly. Like every post RB makes you have a post on it. theres no point

  4. Mentz Says:

Ok lets play a game and see who can go without posting first.

    Damn it I lost already.

  5. GeneralMSU3 Says:

Keep on posting Lou. I think the barage of negativity is a good thing at the moment.

You know, they have this site and post stuff and everyone then proceeds to post negative comments. At some point maybe they would really get the hint that the people that care and come to their site are not at all pleased with what is going on.

You know, it’s also interesting that they post this stuff like anything from a Training Report matters at the moment. Great everyone is back and healthy! Just in time for what???!!!

I feel bad for the guy that is in charge of this site. I feel bad because he obviously didn’t get the memo. Dude, NO ONE is working at this club except you!!! You might as well except the paycheck and take the rest of the year off as well.

To be honest, I don’t think the 15 of us that come to this site will be upset. We’ll understand……….

  6. Alle Says:

I wonder how many people plan on showing up on Saturday, since I’ll be there it’ll be interesting to see – at least if I see any empty seats I can move up.

  7. vic Says:

wake me up when Osorrio and Agooshole are FIRED FIRED FIRED!

  8. glyn204 Says:

You guys are killing me, LOL, keep up the good work. I like this blog, carry on Lou, you are doing a good job.

  9. Lou Says:

    Thanks man

  10. Iain Says:

What’s REALLY going on ? Time to tell yet ?

  11. Lou Says:

Mike from linden that’s twice now that you’ve went against what you said and posted on here. I know that they check all the posts on here because they moderate certain posts and than pass them. I respond to every thread with negative comments along with everyone else because all a fan has is his voice and I think that berating rbr with negative input is far better than sitting back and doing nothing because as a supporter I feel as though I should try to improve this franchise. That’s how I feel and for the moment I’m going to stand by it, I’m not going to be like you and say one thing but repeatedly do another.

  12. Mentz Says:

Anyone know if ESPN is going to be playing the EPL games this year? They claim they are on soccernet, but the tv schedule doesn’t show anything (at least not this weekend). I want to see Jozy’s debut at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea!

  13. Alle Says:

    ESPN showing EPL games? Never.

Stick with FSC or watch the games online if you can, there’s a few good sites available.

    • Karbaz Says:

Well you are partially wrong Alle, ESPN has brought rights for something like 45 EPL games but the problem is it’s only for the British public, as of now. After losing the UEFA Champions League to FSC I’m sure sooner or Later ESPN will show EPL games here in America, i mean they’d be stupid not too.

So to answer your question as well Mentz, Unless you live in England you won’t see EPL games on ESPN.

      • Mentz Says:

Thats what I thought thanks Karbaz. Didn’t know it was only for fans in the UK though.

I’d think eventually they will bring it over here. You would think now would be a good time to do it though because College Football and the NLF isn’t in full swing yet (and baseball starts earliest at 1:00pm) so they don’t have anything pressing for air time at say 9:00am-11:00am Eastern.

I think if you got some casual fans watching this they’d see the tempo and impressive pace of the top league in the world and ESPN would draw more common soccer fans that way.

Who knows, guess I’ll just cross my fingers for down the line.

Let’s be honest, sports in the states runs through ESPN at this point in time…

      • Cindy Says:

actually ESPN is working out a deal with FSC as speak to have the early Saturday morning game and the Monday afternoon game shown on ESPN in America. however as the deal hasn’t been finalized yet it is unlikely that the Chelsea v Hull game will be shown on ESPN.

  14. Cindy Says:

also — new ownership is NOT going to happen, i don’t know why people keep bringing it up. Red Bull just paid to have Red Bull Arena financed completely out of their own pockets and as it’s a SSS there’s no stage for concerts or other non-soccer events so no money will be made aside from Red Bulls [and maybe Sky Blue games later in the future] games. if Red Bull were to sell the company that would just be a gigantic waste of money and resources for them and is NOT going to happen, especially not in this economy.

stop asking about that, it’s not happening anytime soon. just continue to pray for a new coaching staff.

    • lou Says:

Cindy i disagree with you. I’m not saying that new ownership is going to happen, but it shouldn’t be ruled out. There is no concert stage at the home depot center and they still manage to schedule events that don’t involve soccer. The x games take place there every year in the summer. With red bull being big in the extreme sports world, it may make more sense to have the x games at red bull arena in the summer, or at least to schedule extreme sport events in the arena.
They can do this with or without owning this team becuase they own the stadium completely.
And because red bull owns everything when it comes to the stadium, they could still sell the team but keep their name on the stadium and still work it out so that they are jersey sponsors ( much like herbalife, or best buy for chicago fire) for a new ownership group.
And while you are right that they would lose money if they were to bail now and sell to a new ownership group, you have to think about the bigger picture and not as a soccer fan but rather a heartless austrian overlord.
They are losing money every year they decide to stick around owning this team, if they sell the team they can cut their loses and get back to where they started from financially before they took over, plus if they sold they could still make money in a few years off of this team because they would be able to schedule extreme sports events at the stadium, recieve money for every red bull home game, and make money from having their name on the stadium and the front of the new ownership’s jerseys. This will all sell drinks for them which is all red bull ever cared about from the beginning.
If something did end up playing out like this, it would be perfect for red bull. They would finally not have to worry about managing (or mismanging) a soccer team anymore, yet would still get their name out in the american market with the stadium and jersey sponsership and make money. Being a fair deal for the other ownership is another story and would really come down to how well the new ownership group could negotiate.

      • Cindy Says:

i don’t know that i’d go so far as calling Red Bull heartless Austrian overlords.

believe me i feel the pain of all other RBNY fans and know that our mediocrity and seasons of terribleness date farther back than 2006 when Red Bull took over. but it’s going a little far blame the corporation for making a sound business decision in their favor. there are two sides to big business so we shouldn’t be so biased as to label them as uncaring about our franchise. it’s not really the corporation’s fault we suck and it should only be a last resort that headquarters should be making final decisions on personnel decisions regarding the soccer [which granted i think should have happened by now].

i don’t think it’s fair to blame the corporation with the problems with the team. i think that all shoulder be shouldered by the front office and they are failing at their jobs right now.

  15. lou Says:

“i don’t know that i’d go so far as calling Red Bull heartless Austrian overlords. ”

I would call them heartless overlords, heartless as in not caring and they simply don’t care about the common fan’s happiness. They’re just in this whole soccer thing to sell the red bull brand. They don’t need a coach lined up to replace osorio, they could use richie williams as interim head coach, but instead they’ve just decided to not do anything and to allow this team to slip into obscurity.
The front office answers to austria, austria makes the decisions and passes them down the soccer ladder and eventually those decisions find there way to us. With this said, they should be completely held responsible for this team’s poor performance. If they weren’t ready to compete in a demanding new york metropolitian area market, than they should not have bought the team.

“it’s not really the corporation’s fault we suck and it should only be a last resort that headquarters should be making final decisions on personnel decisions regarding the soccer [which granted i think should have happened by now]. ”

It is their fault. The corporation isn’t merely a corporation, they are the owners and control every aspect of this team. If a team in europe is as bad as we are, the owner is always held responsible so why should red bull be any different? You say the people in the front office should be doing a better job, but who hired these people (the corporation did), and who’s responsiblity should it be to fire these people when they act like they don’t know how to do their jobs (the corporation aka the owners aka the heartless austrian overlords)?

  16. Cindy Says:

for the person who was asking — ESPN just finalized the deal with FSC for the early Saturday morning game so Chelsea vs. Hull will be on ESPN tomorrow at 7:40am! here’s hoping Jozy debuts!!
