Red Bulls Sporting Director Jeff Agoos will be inducted in the National Soccer Hall of Fame this Sunday, August 2, in Oneonta, NY.  The five-time MLS Cup champion, nine-time MLS All-Star, and three-time MLS Best XI winner has also been recognized by MLS as part of its All-Time Best XI and the 2001 MLS Defender of the Year.  Agoos was a four-time All-American at the University of Virginia, was a member of the 1998 and 2002 United States World Cup sides, and is second all-time in US MNT history with 134 caps.

RedBullsReader spent some time with Jeff earlier this week to get his thoughts on being inducted, how he learned he was selected, and his preparations for his speech.

  1. Mentz Says:

I can’t wait for this guy to be fired. Great player (for the wrong team), but terrible in the front office. Just as much blame should be put on him as Osorio (and I know that’s saying alot).

  2. emilio Says:

Agoos main problem has been that he has given Osorio too much control, he allowed him to sign and acquire his own players. Osorio has gotten what he wanted and yet has not been able to coach them, the problem is Osorio he is not a good coach, he is tactically very weak and does not evaluate players properly.

  3. lou Says:

Even before osorio, agoos never really did much, i wasn’t even sure what his job was until a few months ago. If osorio is going to get fired, it’s only fair that agoos get’s the boot as well. We need knowledgeable people running the team.

  4. Anthony Says:

I wont comment on his playing career.

But his Sporting Director career is a freaking joke. Lets hope he loves Oneonta so much he stays there.

  5. Karbaz Says:

Congratulations Jeff Agoos, you were great for club and country and I wish you all the best, now please leave Red Bull New York, thank you.

  6. jason Says:

if it is tied after 90 minutes do they go into extra time and penalty kicks please tell me am going to this game and want to find out
for the gamme at giant stadium

  7. Kahlva Says:

Sad that a good playing career is being vastly overshadowed by such an awful job he’s doing with the Red Bulls.

Jeff has seemed over his head and ineffective with
the Red Bulls from Day 1.

  8. Mastro Says:

Agoos is a joke and as a player not merit be there
