The Empire Supporters Club, (ESC) will honor former MetroStars great Giovanni Savarese on Thursday, July 30th, at their official pub, Nevada Smiths, by inducting him into the ESC’s Legion of Honor, a distinction reserved for only the greatest and revered of former players.  This event will run in conjunction with the official New York Red Bulls viewing party for the CONCACAF Champions League match with W Connection on FSC.

Savarese spent three seasons with the MetroStars, scoring a then-team record 41 goals and 94 points in league play and 44 goals, also a record, and 101 points in all competitions. He held the record with the most goals in franchise history with 44 goals from the very first goal in club history in 1996 until the summer of 2007 when Clint Mathis struck for #45. In addition to his statistical achievements Savarese became a fan favorite for his passion and commitment to the club.

The presentation will take place at 7:30 P.M and will be followed by the New York Red Bulls’ CONCACAF Champions League qualifier against Caribbean Champion W. Connection at 8:00 P.M. This is an official ESC and New York Red Bulls watch party, and drink specials will be provided during the match.

All fans are encouraged to attend to show their support for Giovanni Savarese and the Red Bulls, and to watch the Champions League match. For more information visit www.empiresupportersclub.com and www.metrofanatic.com.

    that sounds awesome!

  3. Karbaz Says:

Do any of you guys/girl (because there’s girls here too, gotta be equal folks) think JCO is gonna underestimate this team , play a C squad (which probably is no different then our A squad), and lose big time, or do you think he will play our “top” guys.

  4. afrim Says:

karbaz….there isnt much drop off from our A squad when compared to our C squad. Dont lose any sleep over it

    • lou Says:

do we even have a C sqaud? We have so few players healthy, so i can’t imagine who would make the C sqaud roster?

  5. p cracken Says:

at nevada smith’s, can i bring my son who is 18 or is it 21 and over only?

  6. Mentz Says:

This is pretty much the only thing left to play for this season. He better play who he thinks are the best options. Whether or not they are is another question.

  7. jason Says:

am not planning on going to this but is nevada smith’s just for adults or is it like a bar ? i was going to go there for the mls cup final but then changed my mind

  8. GeneralMSU3 Says:

Savarese for Head Coach!!! We need this guy in the organization in some form.

This is the highlight of the season so far! Great job ESC.

  9. kofix5 Says:

Nevada Smiths is a full time bar you gotta be 21

  10. Cindy Says:

Karbaz – i appreciate your stance on equality, it’s appreciated and should be praised 😉

and yeah i imagine our top healthy players will be playing but i swear there is something wrong because our players aren’t so bad that they should be performing this horrendously. but here’s hoping for the best regardless!

  11. Jason Says:

So Nevadas Smiths is a bar not a resturant ?

  12. TicoinNY Says:

This is the last chance to show that Red Bulls are a professional soccer team. If RB lose this opening series – all hope is lost. The Red Bulls should change their name to the Yellow Cows.
