RED BULLS 1, FC DALLAS 2: POST-GAME

Another tough defeat for the Red Bulls wraps up a three-game road trip for the team. New York has a bye week before playing six of their next seven at home. Juan Pablo Angel – who said after the game that he wouldn’t have played under normal circumstances because of his injured hamstring/quad, but did so since the team only had 13 healthy field players – scored New York’s lone goal. We caught up with him, as well as head coach Juan Carlos Osorio, who spoke about the game and Angel’s goal,  and midfielder Seth Stammler, who talked about going for the game-tying goal.

  3. gb Says:

Fire Osorio! Why the hell should I give Red Bull six grand of my $$$ for next season to watch crap like this?! Outrageous!

FIRE OSORIO!!! I don’t want to pay that fraud’s salary!

  4. Red Bulls Soccer Says:

Worst player on the team is Rojas – he haven’t had one successful pass today. Guess haircut didn’t help.

  5. tilt215 Says:

JCo is just a broken record at this point.

  6. Red Bulls Reader Says:

    Video is fixed.

  7. Steve Says:

Another pretty lousy game all around.

  8. Metro boy till da day I die Says:

video not working.. Can I getbthe link

  9. Red Bulls Soccer Says:

Video is working now – Osorio looks sounded like his days are counted.

    • tilt215 Says:

he’s looked that way for months now and is still here. Atleast i could watch the US MNT tonight and didnt have to spend my holiday concentrating on this garbage. Agoos and JCO have needed to be fired since last year. I regret that cup run we had more and more every week cause that lucky run (with bruce arena’s team) is the only hing that has allowed these guys to keep their jobs.

But hey, look on the bright side, we have a retired, over the hill player, on trial.

  10. kpugs Says:

Came into this game needing to win 14 of the final 16 games just to finish with a point total that was playoff worth in the past. Now need to win 14 of the final 15 despite having an away goal differential of -17?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, JCO isn’t the one assisting the opponents’ in scoring goals, guys. Blaming the coach…blaming EVERY SINGLE COACH this team has, is pathetic. Get real, we are garbage on the pitch and that’s that. We have had more coaches than any other MLS team if I’m not mistaken, and no one ever stops blaming the next one. And I bet not one of you gave any credit whatsoever to JCO when they reached the final last year. But of course since the team stinks now, he’s gotta go. Really fair, tons of common sense on display.

    • tilt215 Says:

No, JCO did not get any credit for making the cup last year because he did it with Arena’s team. We didnt have a great record last year so JCO and agoos said they needed to rebuild the team in the offseason. In comes oduro, khano, pacheco, celades in addition to all the wonderful signings he had last year… jiminez, cichero, suckovallo, rojas, i know there are more, but why bother. The coach builds the team and he built a (deleted) team. Simple as that. his team sucks balls. they have no cohesion on the field. They have no heart. That falls on the coach.
Now we dont even have a team. 15 players!!!!! 15 players. the coaches fault.

    • lou Says:

We don’t need to win 14 games that would mean we would need 42 points to get in added on to the ten points we already have. We don’t need that many points we need to get a total of 40 points to get in so we would need to win at least ten games.
JCO built this garbage team, he took a fairly competetiv team that was built by arena and got us to the playoffs last year, and just stripped it down completely. And if that wasn’t reason alone to fire him, consider the fact that he sounds like a broken man. Would you really want that kind of person giving you pep talks at half time? No wonder why we haven’t been able to come from behind and win.

  11. tilt215 Says:

On a side note, I am not one to blame the coaches usually. I still cant believe they got rid of Arena. That was just the start of this round of stupidity by this franchise.

  12. Chic C Says:

The number one job of the coach is to get the best out of each of his players. To play each player in there best postion, in a system that is best suited to them, with other players that complement and enhance their abilites.

JCO has failed to do this.

    It’s time to move on.

  13. nydasofine Says:

FIRE OSORIO!!!! fire OSORIO!! FIRE OSORIO!!
The team looks so flat. For a team to be succesful you have to establish some kindna style for their indentity for example “lakers the trinagle offense, phoenix Suns running and gunning” REDBULLS has none
The team has no sequence in their plays,no attacking style, no 1,2,,3 . It’s sad to see a big city like NY doesn’t have a great soccer team. Rojas gotta go;for a midfielder he sucks
i got so upset i started watching an old SEATTLE SOUNDERS FC game.

  14. nydasofine Says:

CHIC C……u are 100% rite. OSORIO doesn’t have that kindna talent to recognize each player talent.
like you said” in a system that is best suited to them..” The thing is we don’t have one. management said the other day that the team has been very competitive. Agoos don’t know what competitive is.
1)COMPETIVE is SPAIN & USA; even thou SPAIN lost u can’t say nutin. they kept attacking fiercely til the end
    2) USA & BRAZIL, EVEN IF WE LOST we lost with our heads up

Don’t tell me we’ve been competitive when we can’t give an accurate pass and sit at the botton by ourselves

PLEASE AGOOS…… WE KNOW SOCCER, FOOTBALL, FUTBAL

  15. Jason Says:

we just need a new team by now and not a chance that we are going to quilifey for the play offs…. unless we get new players fast

  16. kofix5 Says:

Credit Sassano with a lame backpass for Cunninghams 1st goal. Honestly that is why he is 3rd string at best and only good as a sub for about 10minutes.

Very low quality play on that one. RedBulls pass the ball back to the keep far too often. It shows a lack of creativity and confidence.

  17. red9fan Says:

If you are Brave enough to go Watch this Failed Circus in Person, it is Brown Bag on Head Time.

  18. Alle Says:

I hate to say it, but when some people say we’re the whipping boys of the MLS, I can’t think of anything else to counter that statement. Either Osorio goes, or we start bringing in some young players instead of 31-year-olds on the brink of retirement and looking for a place to settle down.

  19. lou Says:

USE THE ACADEMY. These guys are on the nationial teams, winning and dominating nationial club tournaments, they have certainly won more than these players we have on the club right now. But no, us fans are constantly betrayed by this organization. I don’t know about everyone else, but i’m feeling angy towards the Red Bull ownership more than anything else. Sure osorio sucks, but the FO are the ones allowing him to stay. They’re taking their fs for granted, assuming that we will stick around simply beacuse we have a new arena on the way next year.
It would be the ultimate slap in the face to this organization if the attendance figures were exactly the same in red bull arena as they are now, and if that wereo happen i would have to say that the club got what they deserved. The fans that have been with this team since the beginning, deserve much better than what we have got.

  20. Iain Says:

Looking forward to the gimmick to getting people inside Red Bull Arena !

  21. unhappy fan Says:

    Rojas sucks.
    The defense sucks more.
    Our fowards can’t shoot.
    Angel is lazy.
    Fire Osorio.
    Nuff said.

  22. Pico Says:

Wait! Do you mean there was a game and I missed it? Darn, it is getting harder and harder to justify to my wife that I want to watch the game instead of doing something else. As of right now, she is in control of my schedule.

Though, it appears the end result was the same as always… It is getting really hard to be a RB fan at this point.

    Cheers

  23. Alle Says:

Never say die Pico, never say die..

  24. Red Bulls Soccer Says:

LA / Beckam game coming up. Fire Osorio, if we lose that one at home.

  25. gb Says:

It’s 11am on Monday and Osorio still has his job? Shame on you!

    Fire Osorio!

  26. nydasofine Says:

I’M DONE WITH THIS TEAM….personally i ain’t going back to Giants stadium anymore.
let Agoos and OSORIO PEOPLE go to giants stadium and Redbull Arena next year.
NY SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE NUMBER ONE SPOT FOR SOCCER NOT SEATTLE; cuz is a city that are full of immigrants and immigrants descendants and those people know football. it’s sad to see an empty stadium in a big city like ours. i blame the management all they have been giving the city is mediocre players and second hands services

we have a coach that sucks. a team that has no style. a mangement that always go for the price of two. they don’t give a dam bout their fan feelings…….i could tell that’s a pretty succesful ORGANIZATION

    GO REDBULLZ!!!

  27. CRIS Says:

SERIOUSLY!!! WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A WINNING TEAM OUT OF THE RED BULL NY??? WHERE IS THE MANAGEMENT OF THIS ORGANIZATION, WHO’S IN CHARGE HERE, AND WHY ISN’T ANYONE DOING ANYTHING OTHER THAN SIT BACK AND ENJOY A LOOSING TEAM. RB KEEP TALKING ABOUT LOOSING THEIR ROAD GAMES, BUT GUESS WHAT, THEY ARE ALSO LOOSING THEIR HOME GAMES. SERIOUSLY THERE ARE PLAYERS HERE THAT DON’T DESERVE TO BE HERE, COASHING STAFF ALSO, AND JEFF AGOS, COME ON NOW, JUST CAUSE HE PLAYED IN THE USA NATIONAL TEAM DOESN’T MEAN HE HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A LEADER OF THIS TEAM. HE IS A WASHED OUT PLAYER THAT WAS ONLY FAMOUS FOR HIS LONG HAIR. IT IS REALLY RIDICULOUS THAT THEY ARE BUILDING A STADIUM FOR A LOOSING SQUAD, WHO CARES THAT THEY GOT TO THE FINALS LAST SEASON, THEY STILL SUCK AND ARE ONLY GETTING WORST.

  28. Mastro Says:

JC OSORIO IS NOT GUILTY…..AGOOS IS THE STUPID GUY AND THE BIG BOSSES THAT KEEP A FITNESS COACH LIKE JC OSORIO AS HEAD COACH….. HE DON’T KNOW NOTHING ABOUT SOCCER COACHING….WE WAS A MEDIOCRE PLAYER AND IS A MEDIOCRE PERSONALITY TOO.

WE HAVE A VERY POOR MANAGEMENT…..FIRE ALL TOGETHER

  29. lou Says:

Wait did you just say JCO isn’t guilty? If you did say that, i think you should see a doctor to check if anything is wrong with you.

  30. DS Says:

We can’t just fire everyone. We can’t just sign 24 new players. We can’t just use all the money RB has in Austria, that’s not how MLS works. We have to use allocation money to buy new players or find some who are out of contract. It is not as easy as find a guy and offer him a deal, there is much more involved in that. And we can’t just let all the players go and eat their salaries. Other teams don’t want to trade for our players so it’s much more difficult to off load them. There is an incredible amount that is needed to be done to change this around, but it’s not as simple as firing everyone, and it’s going to take a long time to get done.

We had 15 fit players on Saturday, we can’t afford to let anyone go at this moment, lets hope that this bye week will give us time for players like Goldthwaite and Kandji to recover, and get some new players in soon so that they can bed in with some of the current team before they are made available on the 15th. So they will be ready to go for LA.

  31. lou Says:

Well DS, only the extremists on this site like nydasofine are saying that we should and can get rid of everybody. And while we should get rid of just about every player, all the other regulars who comments on this blog seem to know that isn’t a realistic goal.
At the same time bringing in players like that 31 year old serbian simply isn’t going to get the job done, and if we had better people running this club perhaps we wouldn’t be in this mess and would be able to find better available talent to come in on trial. Letting go of VDB (which was completely avoidable), and than signing someone like khano to take his place are the type of bone headed decisions this club makes. VDB has said recently that he wanted to stay here, but neither agoos or JCO saw him in their future plans and sent him off to dallas. That’s wonderful that we have this great new stadium, but living by the montra “build and they will come” isn’t going to work out in the new york metropolitan area. Give richie williams a try, can he really do any worse than JCO?

  32. lou Says:

That’s if he sticks around, this serbian player has played for a different club evey year, and “quit” his last club. That pretty much means we are taking a guy out of retirement to play for us, naturally i’m less than thrilled over the idea of signing him.

  33. tilt215 Says:

Correct me if im wrong, but having only 15 players hould have allowed us to make emergency loan deals like what they did for toronto last year right? Why hasnt this been brought up?
Also there is a precedent for bad teams firing all their players in this league. MLS allowed chicago to ungarantee all their contracts years ago.
The front office are just clueless on this sport and this league.

  34. gb Says:

However you slice it, Osorio and Agoos have to go.

  35. DS Says:

Sorry tilt, it’s 14 or having less than 2 available keepers. We were 1 injury/suspension/call-up off being able to bring in an emergency signing.

Lou, I agree that in the long run this Serb won’t get the job done, but right now we need anything to improve this team, and any new player has to be an improvement over what we have been seeing lately. I still don’t blame the team for losing VDB, they didn’t get enough for him, but it was his decision to leave and despite him trying to not look like the bad guy, I won’t blame the team for it. We did get Hall in that deal, but Khano and Oduro weren’t enough to make it seem worth it at this point.

Also, the transfer window opens on the 15th, so if we can get the new players into practice now, then get their paper work through on the 15th they should be available for the 16th, unless we have visa/p1 issues like usual, or the league drags it’s feet. If Beckham can be made available for the 16th, than any player we sign should be as well.

  36. nydasofine Says:

LOU>>>U CALL ME AN EXTREMIST…..I REMEMBER couple days ago u were asking for everybody head….now u change side.
i’m not gonna back up on my words. everybody gotta go. we need new blood. that blood we have rite now is already corrupted. we need a new idea, a new style, new coach and a passionate soccer mangament

DS u r rite bout Lou. he just like the weather; keep changing sides every minutes.

  37. lou Says:

nydasofine, i said i would like many players to be gone and i usually try to make suggestions for suitable replacements before saying that. But i don’t continue to yell and rant about nonsense like you. You make all these altamatums towards the front office about getting new blood and firing everyone, well how exactly do you expect the FO to go about doing that? Can you give a plan or anything for that matter to back up what you say? That’s the difference between you and me, while i may say all these people should go, i don’t type nonsensicle posts directed towards the FO with goals that can’t be accomplished.
There are rules in this league, probibly to many, and we can’t just expect all the rules to be broken overnight. Maybe DS was right about you, if our crappy play is enough for you to decide you aren’t going to support this team anymore (that’s what you have been saying at least) than i guess you really are a fanatic. Most of your posts don’t even make sense, and you say all these things without having any idea of what it would take for it to happen.
DS and i may disagree on a lot of things, but at least he understands rules and the league. That’s why argueing with you nydasofine, isn’t worth the energy.

  38. Red Bulls Soccer Says:

Who cares about blog comments? You are talking like team’s board is reading these comments and taking them into consideration. For real?

    • lou Says:

Not really. nydasofine is trying to say i’m just as big an extremist or fanatic as he is, and i’m tyring to show that if you look at our comments there is a big difference between them. Usually his comments consist of ranting and threatening the team to change the way they play or else he will not watch the games anymore. Where as i usually try to actually make suggestions and sense, i try to be constructive. Obviously the team isn’t making their decisions based on what bloggers write, that wasn’t the point i was trying to make at all.

      • Red Bulls Soccer Says:

Unfortunately, most of fanbase is like that. Only hardcore fans will go to a games even if team is doing horrible and season is pretty much over. ESC baby!

  39. lou Says:

most of the fanbase may be like that, but only a few people rant on and on like nydasofine. Some of his posts don’t even make sense. It’s one thing to say you aren’t going to the games anymore and i can’t really fault him for feeling that way, but he doesn’t even try to write coherent sentences.

  40. Art Hendela Says:

As a soccer fan and coach of youth soccer, it’s pretty clear to me that there needs to be a change at the top. Mr Osorio’s days as coach of the Red Bulls need to end. The defense is disorganized. The offense can not score a goal. If there is anything this team should regret, it was the trade of Dave vandenBerg to Houston. This last game showed his passing ability especially with the assist on the second goal. It should be the only priority of the team’s practice to work on proper crossing from wings and forward passes from the midfield to the foot of Juan Pablo Angel. If Juan Pablo’s job is to put it in the net, then it becomes everyone else’s job to get him a quality pass to score.
