RED BULL U16 KEEPER CALLED INTO U17 MNT CAMP

Keith Cardona

After impressing the USA U17 MNT team staff in recent games against them, Red Bull U16 goalkeeper Keith Cardona (Glen Rock, NJ) has just been called into the U17 MNT Camp. Keith will joing fellow Red Bulls Academy product John Agudelo in the week long training camp held in New Jersey from June 14-21.

“It was one of my goals this year to be identified by the National team staff,” stated Cardona.  “I think I did well against them in the two recent games for the Red Bulls and Development Academy select team. I’m looking forward to joining up with the best players in the country. It’s another small step towards what I want to achieve as a player, and hopefully I can learn from the experience to take me to the next level.  I want to thank my teammates, parents, goalkeeper coach and the Red Bull Academy for supporting me and helping me earn this call up.”

“It will be a great experience for Keith joining up with the U17 MNT for a week,” noted Academy Goalkeeper Coach Andrew Sparkes.  “He has worked very hard at his game over the last year and has got his reward by being called into the camp.”

We are turning into freaking Sporting Lisbon. We have sick U-whatever teams and terrible first teams…

  2. lou Says:

Our academy teams are just nasty, by far the best in the league bar none. That’s at least one thing we can say we have that is better than what seattle has. But i find it so amazing that our academy team is plain dirty, yet we haven’t called up one player. The way I see it is that Dilly duka is obviously good enough to start on our team, as is kassell. To players that can help us out immensly. I’m not sure if exantus is good enough to help us out right away, but I wouldn’t be surprised to find this keeper challenging conway for a starting role, that is if we ever called him up and as long as osorio’s coach that won’t happen.

  3. Cindy Says:

i’m waiting til the whole academy is legitimized by use of the players without so many strings attached… i blame you MLS for this one. [it’s nice to not actually blame RBNY for something for once].

      Cindy,

They have but every quote out there is the same…Osorio and Agoos dont feel any are ready to contribute TODAY…which is sad because they havee completely missed the forrest through the trees.

These guys (Osorio and AGoos) have been a disaster for the future of this team.

You gotta stop man. every day you post multiple times on this blog, often saying some of the stupidest things possible on here. You basically manage to make the same three points, but you just say them slightly differently. I do find it amusing that sometimes you post twice back to back within two or three minutes too. Why not just collect all your thoughts in one entry and post it in a cohesive post? Maybe you should pay attention in class instead of checking this blog like it is your job every day. Now usually I let the idiotic comments on here go by without commenting, especially the ones that come from you, but this latest post of yours can not be ignored.

“That’s at least one thing we can say we have that is better than what seattle has”

If you have such a hard on for Seattle, move out west or order the MLS package and follow them, we dont need your gosh darn negativity on here. As DS pointed out and as any person who follows MLS as a whole could tell you, Seattle has not been playing good ball in their last 6 or 7 games. Not to take anything away from them as they have been a great surprise this season in my opinion, but after a hot start, they have come back down to earth as could be expected for an expansion team. I, as hopefully most true RB fans are, am not jealous of them. Yes they have more points, good marketing, and stronger support, but they have not won a damn thing yet and do not have the greatest stadium in the US coming their way, a phenominal academy to eventually benefit from, and gross uniforms. Also, Seattle had such an advantage by starting fresh in MLS this year. They had great support as a USL team with decades of history and had the advantage of watching how other teams have marketed and functioned over the past 15 years or so. They had the chance to come up with their own ideas, which they did have some very good ones, while maybe more importantly, seeing what did not work.

Like most of our other idiotic “supporters” you are quick to make judgments and claims with out properly looking at the facts and making logical decisions.

“The way I see it is that Dilly duka is obviously good enough to start on our team, as is kassell.”

How exactly do you see it Mr.16 year old? Have you actually ever seen this two play in person? And if so, when/how many times? Again, you are quick to make the assumption that these kids will save the franchise without much knowledge of their skills and abilities. Both have trained with the first team numerous times and have not signed anything. While most people would be quick to say Agoos doesnt know what he is doing by not offering them contracts, maybe in fact he does know that they simply can not help us this year so why offer them contracts when we can go out during the transfer period and get somebody that can help us this season in the Champions League and maybe even still make a run into the playoffs? The real problem lies in the fact that there is no reserve division and the limited rosters. If the rosters were still 28, even without the reserve league, I bet we would see one or two of these kids on the roster at some points this year. That would be ideal, but the unfortunate reality is that this simply is not the case right now. With a new CBA coming up after this season, I would expect issues such as roster size, salary cap, academy prospects, and DPs to be looked at and tweaked. I think it will benefit the deeper pocketed clubs, especially RBNY, and will help us become a stronger franchise for years to come, its just a matter of time. The league and game are still growing in this country and will continue to do so as evidence by the expansion around the league.

“I wouldn’t be surprised to find this keeper challenging conway for a starting role, that is if we ever called him up and as long as osorio’s coach that won’t happen.”

Clearly you dont know what you are talking about since over this tenure as Coach, JCO has called up numerous Academy players to train with the first team. Also, you really think a junior in high school is good enough to compete with MLS quality keepers yet? Unless the kid is a prodigy then no shot you are going to see him on the roster. Im not trying to say Conway is great because he is an average, inconsistent MLS keeper, but I would not put a HS kid in net over him and expect to win. I much rather play Cepero and let him develop, but that is just me and I’m sure you have seen this kid play several times and just know that he can help us win right?

With all this being said, Lou for the love of god and sake of all that read this blog, please stop with your ridiculous pots. We all know you hate JCO and Agoos, you hate the front office minus Stover’s answer segments, you want to get rid of basically the entire roster minus three guys, and you have a hard on for christian castillo and seattle, and you think it is so simple to fix this team. Thanks for your input, now go study for your high school finals!

Yeah Mike because you’re super long post that tkaes about 5 minutes to read is so much better than several sort posts. Obviously i knew this kid is not going to replace jon conway anytime soon, and that crack i made at seattle was also a joke. My whole post was pretty much a joke except for the part about how good our academy team players are. I actaully have seen both those men play before, kassell at a practice that my team was allowed to attend and watch, and duka numerous times at rutgers.
Are you seriously going to try to say that agoos knows what he is doing and that’s why they haven’t been signed? That is pretty rediculous of you to say, because what has agoos done so far that would warrant that idea? Every player we have signed has been largely unaffective and that is at least partly thanks to agoos’ wondeful scouting decisions. you say we should forget about those guys and go after someone else in the transfer period and i would have to quetion that decision. Why would signing a player that has to adapt to the MLS and is any thing from a sure thing, that costs far more than an academy player, and might be past his prime, be better than just signing duka? You’re going to have to gamble on who ever you sign because unless we were to get ronaldo from madrid, you never know if a new signy from somewhere else is going to work out. That’s why i say we mix it up a little and get some foreign signies, but also give the home grown guys a chance.

You claim to be an expert on what i post about, yet for someone who is you would think you would know that i have said that nearly exactly the same before. You really need to understand the idea of a joke, every critique you made on my previous post on this thread is essentially null and void. The idea about conway and the shot at seattle were both jokes. As for the kassell and duka thing, i’ve said as numerous people have as well, that it’s amazing not one of these guys has been called up. I find that amazing because other teams fairing better than us like chivas have called up their academy team players, yet we’re to good to try one kid? We suck, get it through you’re head, you’re right that i think everyone but a handful of players should go but that’s only because they’ve shown they want to be here and can play. We can’t cut someone like khano who is dead weight and replace him with duka? That’s to much of a stretch? We could get one of these kids for cheap, see how he does in a few games, it really can’t hurt us all that much, because we don’t have anywere to go but up.

I never said i was jeolous of seattle at all. I simply praised them on what they do have and that is like you said the best marketing, support, and most attractive style out of any team.
“As DS pointed out and as any person who follows MLS as a whole could tell you, Seattle has not been playing good ball in their last 6 or 7 games”

That’s funny because DS is always bringing up the fact that when we lose we played well. He feels results are only a small part of the equation. Well that’s essentially what seattle has been doing, even when they don’t win they play intelligently. So if DS were to tell me their not good and that other crap, well that would be a little hypocrytical.

“but they have not won a damn thing yet”
What the hell have we won in our many years? They’ve looked ready to challange for some silver ware in the very near future and i wouldn’t be surprised if they did. You keep making excuses for their success, support, and marketing but to me it sounds like you’re just an internet hater and maybe you’re the jeolous one.
Look whether they had a fresh start or not, the turth of the matter is that they have a lot of very good things, and i’m not going to be oblivious and try to deny it, i’m not going to hate and critique it, i’m going to be honest and say it how it is they do have a lot of good things and you can take it or leave it.

“With all this being said, Lou for the love of god and sake of all that read this blog, please stop with your ridiculous pots. Yeah man i’ll stop with my rediclous posts. Usually my posts are supported by everyone except DS and now i guess you, that’s fine i don’t really care. This post was largerly a joke the seattle shot was a bit of an inside joke i had with another poster in a different thread, and if you wanted to explode because of it than fine, you’re clearly an idiot.
I do not hate Agoos and Osorio at least not as people i don’t know them so i can’t say that. But i do hate them as leaders of this team. Why anyone would want them to run this team is beyond me, look were we are right now, let’s just get rid of them and move on. I hate the front office, wow ok that’s a little general there, i hate the marketing strategies they’ve used that have been largely unaffective the worst of their ideas was actually mocked by new england. Is that what you want? Do you want to be mocked by other teams, and on top of it lose every game? As for the high school crap i’m a little sick of that shit, i don’t try to make fun of you’re age or the fact that you probibly live in your mom’s basement, so lay off my age. It has no barring on my arguements, i can defend what i say with the best of them 16 or not. My school year is already over so now i have more time to put jackasses like you in their place. Their did you like my ultra long post, wasn’t that so much better than two small posts in close proximity?

Congrats to the youngster for his call up and hopefully one day (when we have compentant managment) he can contribute and develop with us.
