U16 KEEPER PLAYS FOR SELECTS AGAINST U17 MNT

U16 goalkeeper Keith Cardona (Glen Rock, NJ) was among the 36 players U.S. Soccer Development Academy players selected by U.S. Soccer National Team Staff to play a match against the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team as part of the Spring Showcase in Sarasota, FL last weekend.

Cardona played one half for the Selects in a 3-1 loss to the US U17 MNT, a match which also featured Red Bull Academy product John Agudelo, who is in residence with the U17 MNT.

“It was great to see that Keith was recognized as one of the top keepers in the Academy League,” said Red Bull Academy goalkeeper coach Andrew Sparkes.  “Keith has made big strides over the last year to get where he is now.  He has a great attitude, works hard at every practice and sets his own standards very high.  Keith has played against the National Team twice in the space of two weeks and on both occasions played very well. Hopefully he can learn from the experiences from the games to aid his development for the future.”
