Its only May, but this is the last meeting between the Red Bulls and Fire this season.

RUNNING COMMENTARY:

1′ And we’re off…

4′ Looks like Pacheco has shorn of his locks and is now sporting a short haircut.

5′ Red Bulls earn the first corner.

5′ Angel skies for the corner, but puts it over the top.

7′ New York has been working the ball up the right flank thus far, using Hall and Sinisa to get the ball forward.

10′ Blanco is down after a seemingly harmless foul with Pacheco.  He is clutching his right knee.

12′ Blanco hobbles back on.

17′ Yellow card to Rolfe for a foul on Kandji.

17′ Pacheco’s free kick seems destined for Wolyniec, who goes down in the area but there is no foul called.

18′ Wolyniec rips a shot from the top of the area that Busch parries away.

20′ Thorrington with a shot from the top of the 18 that goes way over.

22′ Angel with a takeaway deep in the Fire’s defensive third, but Wolyniec’s pass gets deflected out.

24′ Wolyniec and Kandji have switched spots, with Kandji going up to partner with Angel.

32′ Stammler finds Angel at the far post for the header, but Busch dives to his right to corral  the attempt.

37′ Wolyniec collectes a Hall cross in the middle of the area, but his turn around shot it deflected out for a corner.

38′ Celades’ cross almost gets to Goldthwaite on the back post, but is put out.

39′ Goldthwaite tracks back to break up a long ball from Blanco intended for Rolfe.  McBride’s header on the ensuing corner is put just over.  Good sequence for Chicago.

43′ Sinisa’s left footed shot off a one-touch from Stammler has no pace and is easily picked up by Busch.

44′ Yellow to Pacheco for a handball.

45′ 1 minute of stoppage to be added.

45+’ Goal Chicago.  Red Bull killer Chris Rolfe gets free after a 50-50 ball goes right to him.  His left footer beats Conway to the far post.

HALFTIME:   A goal in the dying moments of the first half gives Chicago the lead going into the break.

HALFTIME: No changes for New York at the half.

HALFTIME: No changes for Chicago.

46′ And we’re back.

46′ Wolyniec and Kandji are back in their original positions.

48′ Celades’ through ball intended for Angel is gobbled up by Busch.

51′ Kandji with some nice moves to create space, but his low shot is blocked by Soumare.

53′ NY sub: Richards for Petke.  Most likely a switch to a 3-5-2 for NY.

55′ Kandji immediately creates a goal chance, but Angel cant provide the finish with his left foot.

57′ Pacheco plays Wolyniec, but his shot from an acute angle goes over.

58′ Stammler’s shot from distance does not challenge Busch.

59′ Richards is on the right and Sinisa is on the left, with Kandji in the middle.

60′ Celades with a shot but its right at Busch.

62′ NY sub: Borman for Sinisa.

64′ NY is pushing forward, and creating some good chances.

70′ A no call on Kandji draws boos from the crowd.

71′ McBride nearly doubles the lead, but mishits his clear shot in the area.

74′ The last few Red Bull entry passes have been intercepted by Chicago before reaching their target.

77′ NY is being a little too fine with their passing in the final third and it is limiting their chances.

78′ A nice through ball from Kandj frees Richards, who creates a corner.

79′ Chi sub: Banner for Pappa.

81′ Celades with a dangerous cross, but there is no one in the box.

82′ Angel can’t get a good touch on a through ball, and it goes out for a goal kick.

  1. Devil500 Says:

More of a 4-3-3 with Kandji up top with the others I hope.

  2. Karbaz Says:

Undefeated streak ends here for you Fire. Let’s Go Red Bulls!!!

  3. Karbaz Says:

Why in Zeus’ Butthole is Kandji a left midfielder? Yo friggen put Wolyniec in his place, Jesus Osorio I’m really starting to dislike you.

  4. Karbaz Says:

That was perhaps the worst first touch I have ever seen, thanks Wolyniec.

  5. Karbaz Says:

“24′ Wolyniec and Kandji have switched spots, with Kandji going up to partner with Angel.”

Great, now it’s like we have no one on the left side.

  6. Karbaz Says:

    Typical Red Bull, unbelievable.

  7. Karbaz Says:

I can’t understand how every other team in this league can or has shown that they can comeback but for some reason we can’t, we just can’t get that 1 goal that could change the game for us. What is wrong with this team? We have good players but what’s the difference between us and the other teams in the MLS? This team sickens me.

  8. Cindy Says:

this was a hard game to stomach because i felt like we were playing SO well! freaking Chicago putting away one of a few legitimate chances, sucks.

i thought Pacheco at least was back to his good form which was nice to see, perhaps the haircut did him good!

  9. Alex Says:

    OSORIO MUST GO
    ANGEL MUST BE BENCHED

  10. jason Says:

angel should not be benched he just needs a good player around him to help him with goal scoring, am not talking about Woly,Kandji or even Oduro I mean a world class player. also osorio should not go he is jjust have a hard time because that was his former team he coached

  11. man Says:

Yeah and Oduro just needs the Barcelona first team around him and he’d be good too.

  12. IB Says:

    jason,
Stop making bugus excuses,by the way did you watch the game?
you can bring in Eto’, Messi or any top striker of your choice if Angel
is missing all this open goal chances i don’t know how that would make a deference.A person of his statue should do better,he was given good passes but he failed to utilized but finds every reason to show dissatisfaction when someone makes the least mistake.
He does not play with the heart of a captain,if a captain fights had it’s
    transcents.
Khanji did not score but i know he fought a good fight he had a a heart
    of a determine captain.
Coach, please it is time to make a decision that will benefit and reenergize the team by BENCHING ANGEL.We have seen enough.

  13. lou Says:

Get Castillo, Get duka, Fire Osorio, bench angel, cut the dead weight, and than maybe we will have a team.

  14. lou Says:

One more thing why the fuck would osorio take out ubi, he was playing so well, and he starts kandji in a position that he has been ineffective at all year. This guy is an idiot.

  15. CEA Says:

Were was Jaun Pablo Angel??, the only times when I saw him was when he fail a couple of goal chances.
Come on Osorio, lets send him to the bench and put another midfielder (richards), from the beginning, leaving just kandgi and woly at front. There will be more control of balls in the middle and richard can also incorporate his self on attack when necessary!!!

  16. A.T. Says:

JCO really needs to stop living in denial and bench JPA. Who cares that he being paid 1.5 million, does he really want to keep losing? This is sad. Well Kandji is a midfielder but we can all see that he sucks at that position, he plays better as a forward.
Please change the lineup and bench JPA fast or it looks like redbulls will have a new coach next year. Every game so far, he has been invisible except when he scored 3 times but even after he scores, he becomes invisible again.
    Osorio get it together.

  17. jason Says:

Yes i did watch the game IB, Who has scored the most goals in the redbulls organiztion in the past three years angel has but IB you are right they should bench angel just to see what happens maybe even put richards up front with Wolly or Oduro. In my opion angel is losing it also about kangji he is good i just dont like how he plays my line up would be the same as osorio but angel out borman in for kandji and up front wolly and richards

  18. jason Says:

one last thing do you people have anything against angel ?

  19. A.T. Says:

No Jason. We all love Angel but I think everyone on here feels he not trying anymore, he’s not playing with heart. I think it’s because no matter how he plays he knows that he will start no matter what.

  20. IB Says:

I agree with A.T, we all like Angel, nobody hates him and we
do not expect him to score in every game what we are concern about is his effort, if a player utilzes his effort in a game and we loose then we know that the player(s) tried but if we see no sense of urgency on the captain of our team after soo many games then we have to voice our concern.Yes he has been our leading scorer we respect that but the pass glory has to go he was paid for those years and this is a new year.We need Angel on the team but it is time for him to site on the bench and observe

  21. lou Says:

angel has been a savior for our team, but that doesn’t mean he is above the law. Had any other player given the effort he gave against chicago, they most certainly would not see the field for the next game. We have to treat just as we would any other player otherwise what is to stop him from continueing to not break a sweat and still get paid. Jason there is absolutely no way that richards should start up top if your taking kandji out for borman. It is obvious that he is an exceptional player, but a far less effective one in the midfield, yet for some reason osorio continue to play him there. Osorio also took out ubi even though he was playing well and than disrupted the whole flow of the game by puttin the dane the destroyer in in his place. Ultimately the blame should fall on osorio for failing to motivate the players and for failing to see problems before the fans do. Really if the common fan is spotting the mistakes that he is making tactically than shouldn’t that be a red light to the FO.

  22. emilio Says:

Angel has been awful, in football you dont live on the past and Angel has been innefective, his play this year represents what an innefective DP player can bring to the table.

Kandji is a superior player to Angel, i dont care the difference in salary, anyone who thinks otherwise is blind.

  23. CBW soldier Says:

Angel looks injured to me. He took 3 poor touches (all away from the goal) on the pass by Khandji at the end of the game. He didn’t even get a shot off when he had a step on the defense. We all like Angel and know what he has done for us in the past. There is no question about his talent or even his will to win. I actually think he gave a much better effort than he has been giving. He simply has not been executing and he has lost a step for some reason. Is it because he is injured? If so, maybe it’s best for the team to let him rest now and save him for later in the season when we need the push. I actually like this lineup right now. I don’t like Osorio but I give him credit that he has figured out (maybe he does read our posts) that Smith and Richards should not be starting. Celades is the engine of this team. It plays much more cohesive soccer than it ever has. we are simply missing one piece of the puzzle (goalscorer).

  24. jason Says:

ANGEL HAS BEEN OFF ALOT ON HIS TOUCHES AND MOST OF HIS BALL CONTROLL WHEN IT WAS OFF SEASON I THOUGHT THAT THIS WOULD BE HIS YEAR TO SHINE ONCE MORE AS HE DID IN 2007. I THINK THAT ANGEL NEEDS TO TRY MORE AND HAVE A BETTER ADITUDE FOR HIS TEAM AND HIMSELF. MANY PEOPLE WANT TO BENCH ANGEL I JUST WANT TO SEEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY DO BENCH HIM WITH WOLLY AND RICHARDS UP FRONT . I LIKE RICHARD UP FRONT BECAUSE IT SEEMS WHEN HES APPLYING PRESSURE TO A BALL OR A DEFNDER SWITCHES FIELDS THEN RICHARDS CAN HOP ON THAT UBI IS GREAT I LIKED HIM SINCE DAY 1 HE GIVES SO MUNCH EFFORT AND TRIES EVERY GAME. HE HAS JUST BEEN A LITTLE UNLUCKY WITH THE CROSSING AND LONG RANGE SHOTS (FROM LAST YEAR)

  25. ALEX Says:

    FIRE OSORIO

  26. lou Says:

    well said Alex

  27. jason Says:

angel is definetly injured their has to be something wrong with him
