He may not be in the league anymore, but Mac Kandji, the newest Red Bull, made enough of an impression while playuing for the Atlanta Silverbacks of the USL-1 to be named USL-1 All-League First Team, it was announced Tuesday by the USL.
The release reads:
Forward – Macoumba Kandji (Atlanta Silverbacks)
The fast-rising talent was among the league leaders in scoring the first half of the season and would finish fourth in goals (11) and tied for third in points (27) over the course of his 21 games played due to late season injury and eventual loan to New York of MLS. Despite finishing 10th, the Silverbacks were tied for the league’s second best offense.
Also on the list are Bill Gaudette, who wins Goalkeeper of the Year, and Scott Palguta, who received Second Team honors. Both players have ties to the Red Bulls, as Gaudette (who allowed Jozy’s first MLS goal) and Palguta both trained with the Red Bulls in the preseason.
