Fresh off a win over FC New York in the Third Round of the US Open Cup, the Red Bulls return to the road to complete an arduous MLS road swing that took them from Portland to Seattle to Chicago, and now to San Jose. New York is beginning to reassemble itself as players return from international duty and injury. We asked Jan Halvor Halvorsen (who will coach the team in place of Hans Backe this weekend, as Backe will miss the trip after undergoing minor surgery earlier this week), Thierry Henry and Tim Ream their thoughts on Saturday evening’s match away to San Jose Earthquakes at Stanford Stadium. Share your thoughts in the comments section.

I liked what I saw from the Red Bulls today. On the whole, they passed and moved off the ball well. McCarty played very well but based on what I’ve seen in Dallas and DC, he will probably have consistency issues similar to Ballouchy.
But in today’s game, I thought the whole team played well. Bouna had a monster save in the second half which makes up for his failure to control the ball in the first half equalizer. It’s hard to give the Man of the Match to anyone other than Lindpere. He did it all although I couldn’t tell if he or someone else should have closed down the right back in what became San Jose’s second goal of the game.
Let’s get two wins this week – against Toronto and DC, the two teams involved in the “trade” that landed Dax for Tony, Danleigh and a first round pick; much too high a price in my opinion.
