Good afternoon from Bradenton, FL and the IMG Academy’s Field 2, as your Red Bulls are taking on the U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team. Kickoff is at 2:00 PM. We’ll be Twittering the game (@newyorkredbulls) but just to get you started…
- Estonian midfielder Joel Lindpere has arrived. He fully trained with the team yesterday. He hasn’t officially signed with the club but is in the Starting XI, partnering with rookie Tony Tchani in the center of midfield.
- Forward John/Juan Agudelo is partnering up top with Juan Pablo Angel in the first half (We’re going to stick with John, fyi).
- Defender Roy Miller will be playing his first game in preseason as a Red Bull, starting at left back. Tchani is also making his preseason debut.
Here’s the lineup:
———Angel——Agudelo——
Borman–Lindpere-Tchani-Richards
Miller—–Petke—–Boyens—Hall
————Coundoul————-
Coach Backe told his team to work on their defensive shape, while not being hesitant to get into the attack and pressure the other team when they have possession. We’re also trying to find if the three Red Bull Academy players on the U17s (defender Russell Canousse, goalkeeper Santiago Castano and forward Adam Najem) will be in action for us.
As always, leave your pre-game and in-game comments below and follow our commentary on Twitter. We’ll have post-game reaction later.
