RED BULLS VS. HOUSTON: LEG 1 POST MATCH

In a very physical match, a late goal moved the series to Houston with the teams tied 1-1.  John Wolyniec, a late decision starter, tallied the assist on Juan Pablo’s goal and almost found the back of the net on a turnaround shot, which occurred when as he thought he was being fouled in the area.  But the ref did not blow the whistle, and the Red Bulls leave Giants Stadium even.

Here is some post-match reaction:

Juan Pablo Angel:

Sinisa Ubiparipovic:

Danny Cepero:

Juan Carlos Osorio:

What are your thoughts on the match?  Who was the Man of the Match?  Who was the Unsung Hero?  Who needs to play better in the second leg?  How do you think the Red Bulls will fare in the away leg?  Do you think that going in tied will lead to New York playing a more aggressive style at Houston as opposed to trying to defend a lead for 90 minutes?

  2. Eugene Says:

So does Osorio know this is not about points anymore but is a total goals series? Doesn’t appear so from his comments or his lack of offensive substitutions

  3. Eugene Says:

Cepero is a class act. Great performance by him tonight

i know right. there are no tables in the play-offs. disappointed not to get the 3 points!!!??? wtf! we are not playing for points, it’s wins or losses (or ties)and total goals, not points Juan carlos!!!

  5. Mas Says:

WTF care who was the man of the match when we are a bunch of losers thanks to Osorio that like to give away his dignity. Why play turtle Wolly, what was the point try to make with that, why not a fast and better player like Kandji and try to get one or two more goals, isn’t the team who make more goals the winner, why try a defensive game with just one goal, why, why. Idiot.

Your last sentence is so true Mas… Sure we get “3 points” WE NEED GOALS!!
Macoumba should’ve at least come on in the 65th… the pietravallo sub would have been justifiable if Macoumba had come on and/or another mid sub was made (rojas? mbuta? magee???)

come on ny, don’t make my heart drop and shatter into 100 pieces again…
